- 5.0 The Municipal Museum of the Kalavryta Holocaust (481 reviews)
-Powerful and Moving

Very well presented museum which tells the tragic history of the WW2 massacre of civilians in the city. The relics and the video (in English) paint a very powerful and moving story. On my farm in Ancient Olympia, from which my grandparents made their living, and today is the basis of my own agricultural activities, you'll enjoy Greek hospitality. You will walk into our cool garden with trees and vegetables. I will guide you through my private collection, where I'll show you the secrets of honey production and other agricultural products from both past and present. Finally you will taste the products of my little farm and traditional sweets with honey from my bees, which with the help of my mother, will be prepared in front of you. Klio the beekeeper See more..
- 5.0 Hermes by Praxiteles (394 reviews)
-2,500 y/o sophistication
Monuments & Statues
There are a dozen artifacts in The Archeological Museum of Olympia that stop you dead in your tracks and where your jaw drops. Hermes and the Infant Dionysus, or the Hermes of Praxiteles, certainly did that for me. Sculpted from fine Parian marble it glows with charm and energy ; is that a smile on Hermes' lips ? Look closely as you circle the figure. The statue seems not 100 % finished : the face and chest of Hermes are super polished, but his back is raw with clear traces of the chisel. His left foot, which is the original one (right one is a restoration) shows some faint traces of red colour. If this was the only piece in the museum, it still would be worth visiting. See more..
- 5.0 Olympia Land Winery (222 reviews)
-Wine, Cheese and Olive Oil!
Sunday: Spent 1-2 hours Wineries & Vineyards
An unforgettable excursion to the family winery Olympia Land Estate which is into the green valley of Olympia and just 5 minutes from the archaeological site. The particular terroir of the region, the excellent microclimate, the clayey and sandy soil help our vines to grow healthy and very aromatic grapes in order to produce high quality wines. In the Olympia Land Estate you have the opportunity to be part in a tour which start with a walk on the vineyards where you learn about the cultivation of the vines, continue in the production area and finally in the cellar with the oak barrels. After the tour you will enjoy samples of our wines, our homemade olive oil and also other traditional snacks in the air-conditioned reception area. We are on your disposal to help you to organize quickly and easily your excursion which will be for you a memorable experience. See more..

- 4.5 Archaeological Museum of Olympia (2.047 reviews)
-Superb museum
History Museums
This is a superb museum displaying treasures found in the archaeological site of Olympia. They cover the whole history from pre-historic to Roman times. The amazing pediments in the main hall are from the Temple of Zeus. Other pediments depict a chariot race and a fight between centaurs and lapiths at a wedding feast! Several special pieces even have their own room. Visiting either before or after you tour the ruins helps to put the ancient site and its buildings into perspective. I highly recommend this treasure. There is so much to see in this museum make sure you allow a couple of hours so you don’t have to rush through. And bring your camera – you are allowed to take photos here. If you like my review, I hope you'll click the 'Helpful' button; those of us who write reviews love to get them and it motivates us to do more to assist you in your holiday planning. See more..
- 4.5 Ekklisía Tou Agíou Andréa (512 reviews)
-A lovely cathedral
Churches & Cathedrals
A lovely cathedral which houses the relics of the apostle St Andrew, with its multiple domes, as you approach across the outside courtyard you hope it will be as attractive internally. And it is, even better. Ornately painted side altars, main altar, the main dome and the others, all beautiful. And the huge circular central chandelier with depictions of the saints and apostles which in traditional Greek orthodox churches is called the horos. Just a beautiful church with a calming ambience. Some popular churches feel commercial, not this one. See more..
- 4.5 Museum of the Olympic Games (419 reviews)
-On your marks, get set, go back in time!
Speciality Museums • History Museums
I visited Olympia with a coach tour group, and our day started with a guided tour of the museum and the site itself. Our guide was very informative and enthusiastic about her subject. Because of Covid restrictions, the museum part of the tour was quite short, but we were able to reuse our tickets later on. The site was fascinating. My favourite parts were the spot from where the Olympic Flame starts its epic journey, and the arena. See more..

Bridges
A very nice, but expensive to cross, bridge. Not a lot to say, it is an attractive bridge and easy to get good views from the old forts and castles either side. It was just expensive to drive across €13.50. Tolls really can add up driving around Greece. See more..

-Wonderful museum that's 2nd only to the big one in Athens.

We spent 2 hours visiting this modern museum with nearly 2 acres of floor space. The 2009 structure is divided into 3 main halls with the highlight being the mosaics. After paying $6.50 for 2 seniors and using the clean restrooms, we entered the large Hall of Private Life. Beside the excellent mosaics, surrounding cases had a high quality collection of 11th C BC Mycenaean pottery and jewelry from the 14th C BC. The Hall of Public Life displayed 8th BC weaponry with full body armor representations and the Necropolis Hall had a 3rd C BC tomb skull with wreath and 3 large carved 2nd C sarcophagus. - 4.5 Skafidia Beach (120 reviews)
-Nice little beach
Beaches
There are 2 beaches close to Skafidia. The big one is next to the huge hotel complex, north of the creek, and extends further north. Here I'm talking about the small one. Skafidia beach is mostly frequented by Greeks, who are visiting or who have a summer house in the region. Not a very touristic place. The beach is small, with sun beds and umbrellas, and is clean. To the north there is a rocky part of the shore with a couple of mini beaches, which is a great place to watch the sunset, and after that there is a small cove/breakwater where fishing boats are docked. Before the beach there is a cafe/restaurant which can be crowded and a bit noisy with music during the high season. See more..
