    - Beautiful waterfall in Samothraki

    Fonias Gorge image
You walk for about 40 mins in a well defined path that passes though a very beautiful and unspoiled terrain of rocks, and trees next to the river. A small pool is formed in the rocks where you can swim and next to it is the waterfall. You can swim from the pool to the waterfall. There is a second waterfall farther uphill, but the path is more difficult. Until the first waterfall the path is relatively easy for any age. It is worth going... See more..

Lovely Long sandy beach with plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas . We used the ones in front of the Pefka Taverna and these were free as long as you purchased drinks from them. The order was taken by Anastasia a very friendly young lady and brought by her to us while we lay on the sunbed getting a tan See more..
  4. 4.5 Samos (724 reviews)
    - Beautiful Greek island
Spent 1-2 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Samos image
We were 3 days in Samos island and was a great experience. Our hotel was in samos Bay and is a beautiful city but better recommend pythagoreon to stay... is less windy and beaches are calm. There´s too many things to do in the island, monasteries, pythagoras home, wine museums. It was a great time there. Totally recomended See more..

  6. 4.5 Potami Waterfalls (658 reviews)
    - Refreshing and fun but bring shoes you can wear in the water if you can
    Waterfalls
    Potami Waterfalls image
Lovely walk through the woods alongside the stream/river which was a nice break from the heat in itself. The rickety stairs up to the taverna proved to much to take for a couple of our party so instead we stayed at the bottom and walked/swam to the first waterfall. Several things to note. The water is cold but when it's 35c that is fantastic. It's not a difficult 'journey' probably only about 5m of actual swimming will be required for most adults, small kids will need to do more of course. If you have shoes/sandals you can wear in the water it is 95% easier than doing it bare foot. Finally I've no idea how you're supposed to climb out of the pool at the end to go up to the next waterfall. See more..

  8. 4.5 Monastery of Panagia Spiliani (593 reviews)
    - Perfect exercise with great scenery
    Caverns & Caves
    Monastery of Panagia Spiliani image
We walked a 3 mile circuit from our Zorbas Hotel this cool clear morning. The quiet road has a gentle incline, passing a Hellenistic Villa and aqueduct ruins on the way to the 6th C BC Tunnel of Eupalinos. After viewing its opening, we backtracked up to this monastery founded in 1586 which was free to enter. Passing the courtyard tower, we saw the chapel then descended into the beautiful lighted cave-grotto to its pretty blue chapel. Researchers claim it was a place of worship since ancient times. Back outside near the WC at the old supported pine, we found wonderful views to the town castle, the Roman baths and airport. Returning, we stopped to see the Roman theater and its 4th C BC arched cavern behind the stage. Perfect exercise with great scenery and part of the 1992 UNESCO Pythagorein and Heraion of Samos. 9. 4.5 Seychelles Beach (497 reviews)
    - Gorgeous beach, no facilities around.
    Beaches
    Seychelles Beach image
Very clean waters, a magical turquoise colour. It is small and popular so don’t expect a lot of privacy. Definitely worth visiting, at least once. Good shoes is a must, so no flip flops. Because of its accessibility this beach is not very suitable for kids or people with mobility issues. See more..
  10. 4.5 Archaeological Museum of Thasos (497 reviews)
    - bigger on the inside
Temporarily closed - Closed until further notice History Museums
    Archaeological Museum of Thasos image
I was surprised by the size of this museum. Definitely worth a visit especially if you want to take a look at the ruins around the city. This museum gives you a much needed context for them and gives you the idea of what life was like in ancient times. The entrance fee is 4 euro (unless you're under 25 or over 65, then it's 2) and currently in july/august of 2020 you need to wear a mask inside. See more..

Livadaki is at the northwest coast of Samos and 13 km away from the island's capital, Vathy. The beach is sandy with shallow turquoise waters that naturally promote the games and thus make it safe destination for families with children. Despite its small size has a very good organization with free umbrellas and sunbeds, which even can transfer and in the sea and lie there. With nice music and relaxing atmosphere under umbrellas Livadaki will be refreshed with delicious cocktails, drinks and cold beer and enjoy delicious snacks and fresh salads! See more..
  12. 4.5 Lemonakia Beach (474 reviews)
    - Beach with traditional Restaurant
    Beaches
    Lemonakia Beach image
Greece is suffering with a lack of tourists due to Covid-19. As a result this beach is not as full this year as in previous years and proprietors are suffering. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and closes at 19:00. A shame, as they serve delicious food at reasonable prices. Try out the local specialties, and ask what fish they have fresh... Dorade, sardines or Calamari. Grilled. The quality is good, the prices are reasonable and the staff is kind. See more..
  13. 4.5 Tsamadou Beach (348 reviews)
    - It should be on your to do list
    Beaches
    Tsamadou Beach image
Tsamadu beach was a delight! After parking the car we went down the stairs to find a very beautiful pebbled beach with crystal clear water. We were so pleased with the beach that we didn’t even notice that we were in the middle of the nudist section :) it was a unique start of the day! :) So once you go down the stairs make a left if you want to go to dressed people section. There you can find many sunbeds and umbrellas. You can even stay in the shadow of the trees. They have a very nice greek guy Mister Tsamadu who can bring you anything you like drinks, food..we liked him very much , he was very funny and nice and he was like speedy gonzalez all day long bringing people drinks. Upstairs where we parked there is also a cafe beach bar from there you can take beautiful photos of the scenery. See more..

Quaint little church perched on a tiny mount, stunning views and lovely to see inside. Lovely walk in the old part of Petra around bottom of the mount and also stumbled upon a little balkan house museum a few yards away, also reviewed. You may want to come prepared, as to enter the church they request you have legs and shoulders covered - a thick gown is available at the door. See more..
  21. 4.5 Tripiti Beach (246 reviews)
    - Ok beach
Spent More than 3 hours Beaches
    Tripiti Beach image
You can bring the car very close to the beach. Fine sand, few stones in the water. We came in a very hot day. The umbrellas are a bit small. Some terraces near it. The beach boy from taverna Pirofani that administrates the sun beds we stayed first came at 12:30 pm... You better go to the middle of the beach, on the sun beds of the hotel. Serving is attentive. 22. 4.5 Anavatos (223 reviews)
    - Amazing!
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Anavatos image
A fantastic fortified village on top of an, as it looks, impregnable mountain peak. Well, finally the turks succeded, which created damage and manslaughter of the village and its inhabitants. Very interesting site to visit. Unfortunately we couldn’t find any guide when we were there, so we had to rely on the guide books. Strongly recommended before or after your visit to Anavatos, is a stop in the neighbour village, Avgonima and the taverna ”Asteri”. The best taverna on the island! See more..
  23. 4.5 The Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest (212 reviews)
    - Surprisingly Good
Spent 1-2 hours Natural History Museums
The Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest image
I'll start by saying that I have no interest in Paleontology or Geology. My wife wanted to visit the Petrified Forest Park so that's where we went. The entry fee is €5 each, which also gets you entry to the Natural History Museum. The park has some different walks, but be advised there is little or no cover so choose your time carefully. If you like petrified tree remains then this is for you. Then onto the Narural History Museum in Sigri. Let's start with the staff, who were pleasant, helpful and knowledgeable and spoke excellent English. The exhibits, videos and information were first class and thought provoking even to someone like me. An excellent Museum and highly recommended. See more..
  24. 4.5 Pythagoras Statue (202 reviews)
    - Pythagoras inscribed in his famous triangle.
    Sunday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent < 1 hour Monuments & Statues
    Pythagoras Statue image
This monument has been standing on the pier in the Eastern part of The Pythagorean Harbor since 1988. Minimal school knowledge of mathematics is enough to understand the message of the sculptor Nikos Icarus. Every schoolchild in the world remembers the Pythagorean theorem. The appearance of Pythagoras performed by Icarus does not match the famous Roman bust from the Capitoline museums. The lack of accurate information about the appearance of Pythagoras leaves room for creativity. By the way, this also applies to ideas... See more..
  25. 4.5 Kastro van Myrina (198 reviews)

  26. 4.5 Monastery of Archangel Thassos (190 reviews)
    - Monastery of Archangel Thassos
    Religious Sites
    Monastery of Archangel Thassos image
The Nunnery of Archangelos Michael is the greatest and most famous monastery of Thassos and is an important pilgrimage. It is built on the edge of a cliff near the village of Theologos and the view of the Aegean is really fascinating, giving the visitor the feeling of being suspended. In this position, ascetic Loukas, obeying the command of Archangel Michael, built in 1110 AD small chapel in which holy water gushed. According to tradition, infidel Turks wanted once to destroy the source. Then it dried up miraculously and flowed, and still gushes in a cave near the sea. The sacrilegious fell dead. Years later, again miraculously, reached to the church the Holy Nail (the nail that came at the right hand of the crucified Christ) which was dedicated by Emperor Nikiforos Botaniatis to Philotheos Monastery in Mount Athos. Charming a seemingly impossible, the slabs of rock have been intruded with a church built right into the crevices...a steep climb w/a genuflecting bend to enter...if you can, it's a must see! Don't miss ordering LOUKOUMADES from Maria! She makes the best! See more..

Easy to find, park or a 10 minute walk from Agios Isidoros. No need to book and the whole experience is free. Warm welcome from staff and I was given a 1:1 tour of the distillery. Incredibly knowledgeable staff and also willing to chat and highlight some of the must visit areas of this beautiful part of the island. Tasting offered at the end of the tour and no pressure to buy. Well done - one of the best tours I have had anywhere! See more..
