All you ever would want to know about- MASTIC
This is a lovely, modern museum situated on a bluff with a terrific view of the countryside. The exhibits are very detailed and extensive. If you are like me and had NO idea what the heck mastic is before you arrived, you surely will become an expert if you pay attention on your visit. I think perhaps the big message of this place is the history of how the local growers were exploited over hundreds of years by the greater powers that coveted their product. The history is full of very serious abuses of the locals including mass murder by the Ottomans in 1822. Lessons for us all here. Be sure to try some mastic-tinged item from the lovely cafe before you go. Not to all tastes but an experience to have.

Make the trip
Located about 30 minutes from Chios City and definitely worth the trip. Perched on the top of a hill with terrific views in all direction. Entrance fee is €4 per person. A well laid out museum with informative displays written in Greek and English. If you know nothing about Mastic you will when you leave. Recommend
