It's hidden paradise, indeed ! A 40 m. tall waterfall, that you have to make a 1,5-2 hours walk to approach, but it really deserves it. The path that leads to the waterfall is in an amazing beech wood, where the only sounds you can hear, is the birds and your steps while walking. The return from the waterfall is a bit difficult, as you have to do the uphill. But it deserves it... See more..

-Remarkable Visit
Churches & Cathedrals
Lydia is known as the first person in Europe to respond to the Gospel. She is therefore known as the first to be Baptized on European soil. We had read about this and were thrilled to actually visit where history was made! The traditional location is now a convent ran by the nuns of St Lydia and consists of a few buildings and a spacious parking area. There is not a fee to park or visit the location. There is also a concrete path to the riverside and a small seating area is there. After visiting the riverside, we stopped at the cafe/gift shop and had cake and coffee. We also purchased a few items in the gift shop. See more..

We stopped here on our trip from Thessaloniki to Kavala, after visiting the Eikosifoinissa Convent. There was plenty of room to park even with several bus groups. After paying 6 E each, using a Visa card, we entered the large site beginning with the Theater. Continuing along the ridge, there were long views of the Forum until arriving at Basilica B. Just above was the museum. After viewing its statuary and rare tomb discoveries, we returned on the Forum’s lower level with close views of the Basilica A ruins. Wonderful archaeological site with ruins from the 4th C BC to the 14th C. See more..

-Large old house
Sunday: 9:00 AM - 2:30 PM History Museums
This beautiful old building, once the home of two sons of a wealthy tobacco merchant, has been restored to some of its previous glory. It's on three levels and, apart from showing how the family would have lived, it also has displays of spinning and weaving, costumes, old sewing machines and various bric a brac. There is a summary of the history of the district, but unfortunately this is in Greek only. There was a preliminary talk, however, and this was in fairly good English. This staff member was extremely knowledgeable and keen to share information. See more..

We spent two full days walking the wonderful trails through beautiful pristine forest. The signage on the trails was about the best we have ever experienced. The added attraction of a vulture feeding station was a unique bonus. We really had to tear ourselves away from this great place. See more..
