- 5.0 Cururu's Point (317 reviews)
-One of the most wondeful sunsets you'll ever see
Spent More than 3 hours Beaches
On our way back from the day's adventures, we stopped there to admire the sunset at the Cururu's point. It was a beautiful experience underrated only by some people who decide to disturb the peace of that wonderful place with high volume music (it was Saturday, and people already had warned us that it could happen) I suggest you go on weekdays to get the maximum of your experience. Even so, the sunset was speechless and worths the visit See more..
- 4.5 Estacao das Docas (8.124 reviews)
-Great Place to meet friends and dine in Belém
Monday: 10:00 AM - 12:00 AM Points of Interest & Landmarks
Great place to walk with your loved one, enjoy lunch or dinner with friends. The view is wonderful and the variety of restaurant offers some great experiences for everyone. At night it is even more beautiful. If you want to take a river tour of Belém, this is where you will start. And having dinner there you can listen to some live music from musicians which will play on a movable stage above your head. Try some local food, drinks or desserts and enjoy your stay. See more..
- 4.5 Mangal das Garças (5.272 reviews)
-Relaxing inexpensive place with great views of city and waterways
Monday: Spent < 1 hour Parks
Free to enter, this relaxing green space is a good place to unwind from the hectic city life of Belem. Quite a number of different birds, some exotic, that are native to the region as well as quite a number of rather large iguanas. The highlight for me was paying the small fee of 5 real ($1) to take the elevator to the top of the modernistic lighthouse, with an amazing view of the city and waterways. Another path leads directly to a shaded deck right on the water. If one is so inclined they can also pay an additional 5 real each to enter the butterfly exhibit as well as the aviary. I was more impressed with the aviary. There are a number of food establishments located on the grounds serving decent food at market prices (not terribly inflated). Overall the place exceeded my expectations and is a fun inexpensive trip to take while in Belem. Seeing the odd modernistic lighthouse in itself is reason enough to visit. See more..
- 4.5 Teatro da Paz (1.726 reviews)
-Excellent 11 AM tour of the Amazon's 1st Theater.
Monday: Theaters
We walked 500 m southwest from our Hotel Le Massilia to the Republic Square, site of three prominent Neoclassic buildings; the tan Teatro Experimental Waldemar Henrique, the red Art Science Institute and this 1878 Teatro da Paz. After paying 3 BRL for seniors, we waited for the next hourly tour to start. Fortunately it was conducted by an eager bilingual guide who tailored his speech between Portuguese and English. Especially interesting were the details concerning ventilation, the addition of AC in the 70'S, and the ceiling paintings throughout. See more..

- 4.5 Alter do Chao Beach (1.395 reviews)
-Relaxing day on an Amazon river beach
Beaches
Tendered directly onto the beach from our cruise ship. Great to swim in the Amazon river - warm, calm and fresh water! There was a great little market across the bridge and a small cafe where we had a beer. We didn't walk through the town to the other beach as it was far too hot. We could have taken a local boat trip to the lake but were quite happy to sit under the shade of the trees on the beach in between swims. Wonderful day! See more..
- 4.5 Belem Metropolitan Cathedral (1.212 reviews)
-NIce cathedral
Spent < 1 hour Churches & Cathedrals
Known as the cathedral of Se as well as the Metropolitan Cathedral. This cathedral is in the old part of Belem, near the fort, and overlooking a pleasant square. A nicer part of town than near the market, which we walked from, through dirty and tatty streets. Nice inside the cathedral too. Definitely visit this pocket of Belem if you are in the city. See more..
- 4.5 Praça Batista Campos (844 reviews)
-Great place for outdoor walking
Parks
Great place for outdoor walking. Even in the sunny period the square is well-wooded and offers a great climate. Several herons in the trees. Beautiful place. In the end you can still take a coconut water to refresh. See more..
- 4.5 Algodoal Island (831 reviews)
-The island still a lonely beach with some wildlife experience
Islands
Go to Maruda city, far 3 hours from Belem going north. There in Maruda take the boat and get ready for an experience in an island where no cars and no infrastructure are waiting for you. Check your health first, then if you don´t need a hospital nearby neither a drugstore, then go. And enjoy the lonely beach of the princess and the contact with wildlife of dolphins (called as "botos") and manatees (called as "peixe-boi"). The transport in the island is made using carts with a single horse to pull. See more..

- 4.5 Parque Estadual do Utinga (288 reviews)
-There is a lot of potential here
Monday: 6:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent 2-3 hours State Parks
The place has mainly locals running or riding bicycles. There is a great touristic potential here, but unfortunately there is no structure for tourists. The place is basically a paver road in the middle of the forest, i saw one place saying "trilha do macaco" which means monkey trail, but the orientation was to not going there without a guide. So I went to the main office and asked for a guide, but the answer was: one Saturdays there are no guides!!! It is a shame... So, my suggestion is, look for a guide ahead and enjoy this marvelous and not very touristic place! During my tome there we saw a baby monkey eating the plants, very nice! See more..
- 4.5 Gemas do Para Museum (284 reviews)
-large beautiful local specimens
Speciality Museums
My gem and mineral expert of a husband was only moderately impressed with the exhibits here -- not enough rarities for his taste -- but he agreed that what they chose to show was top-rank. This is a small museum you'll probably have to yourself. It's a short stop. See more..
- 4.5 Universidade Federal do Pará (275 reviews)

Educational sites
Very friendly, helpful & welcoming staff. Good place for students including international (though you need some Portuguese). Great level of debate in seminars and interaction between staff & students. Best university catering you are ever likely to find! - 4.5 Selvagem Tours (258 reviews)
-The most awesome way to visit Alter de Chao!
Monday: 8:00 AM - 11:00 PM Boat Tours • Eco Tours • Boat Rentals • Private Tours • Day Trips
A friend and I stumbled upon Selvagem Tours by chance and we thought it was just going to be an average boat trip. It turns out that not only Karlos is an amazing host who makes you feel totally welcome from the moment you set foot on his boat (you can tell it's not just a boat but his home you are entering), he is also extremely knowledgeable and totally accommodating to your needs. Unlike other tour operators you can entirely customize your trip when travelling with him. He takes great pride in listening to what it is you would like out of your trip and organise it accordingly. Totally recommended! Enjoyed it thoroughly. Too bad we only did day trips. Totally worth your while to sleep on board and go on longer trips. No better way to explore the area! See more..
- 4.5 Museum of Forte do Presepio (256 reviews)
-OLD FORTRESS
Speciality Museums
Fortress built by the portuguese in the 17th century and gave rise to the city of Belem. It has attractions such as old houses and churches. See more..
- 4.5 Floresta Nacional dos Tapajos (246 reviews)
-I loved it
Nature & Wildlife Areas • Forests
We visited the riverside community called Jamaraqua (there are many others, such as Maguari, Sao Domingos, etc). From there we started our walk through the forest guided by the sweet Lourdes. The trail is clearly marked at the beggining but as we go deeper and higher into the forest the way isnt always as clear. At the beggning the vegetation is what they call "secondary" meaning it has already been chopped down and regrown, but ti the uneducated eyes, like mine, is plain beautiful and period. But higher up we went into the "primary woods" and the beauty remained. The samauna trees (giant massive trees, that can up to 80 m) are spectaular, but also the piquias, cedros, and so on are breathtaking. Not to mention the butterflies, so many, so lovely. Of course, there's always the big spider somewhere, but the guide knows where they hide and some people actually like to see them (not me). The walk takes 4 hours usually - 7,5 km - and at the end you can have lunch at the house of Dona Conceicao e Seu Pedro, which I strngly recommend. And end your day with a refreshing dive in the cool waters of the nearby igarape, just a 10 minute walk away, as the waters of the beautiful Rio Tapajos, right in front of our starting point, might be a bit too warm after the exercise. See more..
- 4.5 Farol Velho Beach (245 reviews)
-It's a Beach you drive on
Beaches
It's a long Beach where you drive your car up to a table next to the water. You need to watch the tide because they had ones that have swamped the cars. My friend Marcel showed my photos we were at the same exact spot. It's great since your car is right next to you have all your stuff. They serve you from the local beach restaurant on the beach. Food, Beer and also local beach vendors. It's again great they take credit card so the exchange for me from the USA was great. The water is warm almost like bath tub. It has waves we did a little body surfing. See more..
- 4.5 Para Religious Art Museum (224 reviews)
-Great place to visit
Speciality Museums
Excelent option for who loves the sacre art, the building is wonderful and the collection amazing. The effect with the illumination promotes the enhancement of the pieces. See more..
- 4.5 Ilha de Cotijuba (178 reviews)
-Trilha Dourada
Beaches
Cotijuba is a simple and beautiful island. I spent two days there, and loved everything there. I saw the most wonderful sunset there, and at night a really nice sky. For sure, the fresh and hot water of Cotijuba is a good way to relax and forget, even for a moment, the chaos of the metropolis. I really recommend it if you want to relax and have a nice time with the nature! :) See more..
