This was a whole lot of fun. Been a lot of places, but never got to swim in a pool below a 45 meter waterfall half way up a mountain. The power of the falls was such that it created a dam strong wind that bounced off the water and into the forest covering all in a mist of fresh water. The water is occupied by fish that don't mind jumping out of the water to take a nab of a banana from the guide's 'fishing rod'. And there's a very quick way off the mountain over the tops of the huge tress - a zip line that shoots you down at 65kph - very safe and super fun. See more..

There are so many birds like toucans, parrots and many others. Lots of crocodiles cross roads and just rest near water. The best way to go there is buy a one/two... days trip in Cuiaba. Based on my experience with other area attractions this one gets a 'very good'. It's easy to find, free to enter and the short trail to the viewpoint is nice. The waterfall itself is alright. Views of the forest and valley are actually more impressive. There is a gift shop to the left of the viewpoint, but nothing much else to see. They closed the trail that used to go behind and down to the bottom because of safety (according to a park employee, someone actually died after the pathway gave way). If you come to the Chapada dos Guimares National Park then do not miss the opportunity to snorkel down one of the clear water rivers. We stayed the night in the nearby Pousada Reino Encantado where we ate some of the best Brazilian food of our entire trip. The river water is crystal clear full of Neotropical fish including fresh water sting rays. Don't worry they are more afraid of you than you are of them. You start in a pool with natural spring water bubbling up through the sand bottom and you can float lazily down stream for about 1 km. In places you have to swim under fallen logs but being able to swim underwater down a stream and see a very different world is one not to be missed. See more..

Bom Jardim, Nobres MT nice place to go, I do recommend Bom Jardim is a small village located around 150 km North of Cuiabá (Capital of State of Mato Grosso) or it might say: Brazilian mid-west. Actually, Bom Jardim does not have sophisticated facilities, such as: malls, restaurants or banks. On the other hand, the Nature does Bom Jardim a special, amazing and awesome place. Why? the limey soil with a lot of water springs forming rivers with clear and transparent water. So, it is ideal for floating practice and/or diving with mask/snorkel. The scenario is completed with fishes (small and big ones) swimming with you. Rio Trieste is the best by the highest diversity fishes, vegetation (in the bottom of river), limy rocks and trees. If you look for raw nature, local food, simple place and people. So I do recommend visit and spend a few days (3 is enough) at Bom Jardim, Nobres Mato Grosso. See more..

We had a very pleasant visit to the church one Saturday afternoon. Parking is very limited, but the bus stops right in front and there was only one car parked when we visited. Upon entering, I asked the Priest if pictures were allowed. He gave me permission and also warned me to be careful of the lighting and cords on the floor as they were setting up for an evening wedding ceremony. I hope to be able to return and watch one of the ceremonies. The inside architecture is beautiful and very photogenic. I couldn't find much history on the building. It is definitely worth a visit. As ever in Bom Jardim I'm impressed with the set up. First of all you need a voucher and that safeguards that only a finite number of people can access an attraction. Then you need a guide, so that you get to know what you need to know and are kept safe, and that the attraction is kept safe (tourists can be very unkind, leaving litter, damaging natural artefacts etc). I came on the Nobres Explorer Tour. Very professional. Before hitting the water in an inner tube, you're given water shoes and a helmet (defo needed). And a safety talk. And then it's time for the rapids. Whilst they're not very mad, they're certainly not a walk in the park. You journey through a forest on the tube, sometimes backwards, bumping into the rocks (that's where the helmet works). Eventually you plunge into a cave that you share with some bats. And then you plunge out and then your on you way again. Absolutely great fun. See more..

First of all U must say that I loved the visit - but you should be aware about some particularities. There are 7 different water falls in that circuit, some then very accessible, some others not that much. The tour starts with a trail that is not that hard - but children, people with disabilities and elder might not be able to do it. You can dive in the water falls, and the tour will usually allows a few minutes stop for you to do it. The tour will take about 4/5 hours, but it is totally worthy!! I saw araras in their natural ambience, flying free - wonderful!! Last warning - the tour take place in a natural park and visit is limited. Booking a tour in advance is recommendable, otherwise you might not be able to do it due to the park policy in limiting visitors. See more..
