Maroaga Cave - supposedly tunnels with a total length of 400m, but unfortunately only the first chamber is visited. Due to the limit of visitors, guided tours only at specific times. Cultural Events
    Boi Bumba image
The most popular folkloric festival in Brazil, Boi Bumba (Bumba Meu Boi) celebrates the legend of a sacred bull, who died and was brought back to life by the magical power of drumming. During the festival, various groups recount their own versions of the well-known myth, through a colorful combination of costume, dance, drama, and drumming. While celebrations take place in towns and cities across the country, one of the most authentic of these is in Parintins, Amazonas — also known as ‘the city of the bulls’ — where the festival has a distinct Amazonian flavor, and the carnivalesque atmosphere is especially contagious. We stayed in hammocks here for a week and it was incredible. We were on a fieldwork trip with uni, so we got to carry out many different activities around the area. The humidity and heat were definitely a challenge but manageable. We managed to spot a mountain lion on the road bringing you down to the buildings. Also toucans, macaws, agouitis, monkeys, snakes, frogs, creepy crawlies. If there's on place you should visit in life its here. The staff are very knowledgeable about the area and the Amazon. The results of this research, compiled in catalogs that broach topics such as plants, birds and frogs, tell what Musa wants to show visitors. At Musa, one can find exhibitions, an orchid and a bromeliad house, a lake, aquariums, and experimental snake, insect, and butterfly labs. - Manatees and Monkeys
Monday: Spent 1-2 hours Zoos • Parks
    Bosque da Ciencia image
The park is small but there are winding walkways and paths which make it feel bigger. The main attraction would have to be the manatees. There is a breeding programme so there were some calves when we visited. There are also some enclosures with varying sizes of jacare, lakes and ponds with terrapins and a troop of monkeys living free in the trees. There is a bus which stops at the bottom of the road, about 5mins walk away. It's not a very long visit, a couple of hours, but worth the visit. Also, your entry fee goes towards the continuing breeding programme of the manatees. See more..

A wonderful midday stop in the Manaus heat and humidity thanks to its air conditioning. Also beautiful inside. In the middle of the St. Sebastian Square, or Praca de Sao Sebastian, and with a glorious frontal view of the famous Opera House, this monument faces all directions in on our of the opening of the seas to free trade. It is surrounded by the trees of the square, which boasts the famous wavy batch-and-white stone pattern on the floor, for which Copacabana Beach in Rio is so famous. Local historians note, that the pattern of Portuguese origin was first used in Manaus, not Rio! 23. 4.5 Cachoeira de Iracema (479 reviews)
    - Waterfall with swimming area
    Waterfalls
    Cachoeira de Iracema image
Nice waterfall and 3 caves nearby. I was in November, so the river level was low, and the waterfall itself was narrow, but at least you could get close. There is a swimming area between the rocks where you can rest. There is a bridge from which people jump into a 'hole' in the rock. Nearby, there are picnic areas (wooden tables and chairs). You can hang a hammock if you have it. There is also a bar but I don't know prices or opening hours. The place was very crowded, I waited quite a long time before I managed to take pictures with fewer people. Unfortunately also littered - mostly beer bottles. Access to the waterfall and caves - a muddy path, a wooden bridge among the trees on a certain section, but also a narrow passage between the rocks (photo). See more..
  24. 4.5 Manaus Botanical Garden - MUSA (435 reviews)
    - Worth a visit!
Monday: 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM Spent 2-3 hours Speciality Museums
Manaus Botanical Garden - MUSA image
Me and my girlfriend had a nice time. The tower is amazing, highly recommended. They have some interesting outdoor exhibits. They have a nice little cafe area with juice, coffee, some lighter foods. All the staff members we interacted with were friendly. The trail to and from the tower is pleasant and easy. The snake exhibit was also interesting, especially the green vine snake. Minor complaints: They made my girlfriend rent their boots because she had sandals , but the boots were completely unnecessary. There is a 1.8km trail where they want you to have a guide but we did it without a guide and it was completely fine, I feel they should permit access without a guide, it’s just a trail. They were closed 4 months because of Covid , but this is the best place anyone could possibly be for Covid, outside on the open air instead of indoors where respiratory viruses thrive. At least it was only 4 months, could have been longer. Overall, a very nice experience, recommended for sure! See more..
