A Manaus Highlight

Impressive in every way even if it had been built in any of Europe's great cities. Unbelievable for having been built in the middle of a jungle in the mid 1890s. Just wow. A must see while in Manaus and you cant beat the cost of entry @ ~USD 2.

Amazing theatre build in the middle of the Amazon forest
The Amazon Theatre is a fantastic construction finished in 1896 inspired by the best theatres of Europe. Most of the decoration and paintings were imported from France. No visit to Manaus is complete without a guided visit to the theatre. The theatre is a testimony of the local riches during the cycle of the extraction of rubber from the Amazon forest before the invention of artificial rubber

    Must see in Manaus
Our English language guide and tour of the Teatro Amazonas enabled us to witness first hand this amazing opera house in the middle of the Amazonas built during the rubber barons period in early 1800's with the design, materials and art work to rival the greatest opera houses in Europe as well as local craftsmanship.
