The palatial Ayuntamiento (Town Hall) of Valencia dominates the square, and its bells chime out the hours. Surrounding the plaza are other buildings from the city's golden age, such as the Correos (the main post office). In the center of the plaza, a fountain is surrounded by flower stalls with all the colors, sizes, varieties imagineable. This is a good starting point from which to visit Valencia's old quarter or today's most fashionable shops. See more..

After visiting the plaza and going inside Valencia Cathedral we decide to queue for the bell tower and make the 207 step climb to the top. Luckily we were at the front of the queue when we went up so had a bit of a head start taking the spiral stair case which does feel like its never ending and is quite the exercise so I would warn those who might struggle with the challenge. Once arriving at the top we were amazed by the 360 views of the city with plenty of photo opportunity's. There is a traffic light system to know when you can go back down as there is just the one staircase and at 2 euros each it it definitely a must! See more..

The balcony still has its beauty and charm. It was excavated last year as it was supposed to be hiding some secret ruins but none of any significance were found. So there are glass viewing plates which are safe to stand on and you can see clay and sandstone 9ft deep but apart from that it's just as it was with every blue and white tile back to it's original glory. This place is such a must, I loved it! It is aesthetically beautiful with a contrast of blue and white. I loved it when cities add aesthetically beautiful places so that we can take poetic photos. It is a magnet for tourists. You have amazing views of the sea from there. Must visit on a sunny day! Might be tricky to take photos without people but depending on the time of the day and your patience, you can manage it. See more..

A lovely building that was unveiled in 1949 houses the voluminous market. This followed decades of it residing in a couple of sheds that were then replaced by the current edifice. Bright and clean within, there’s a plethora of foods available on stalls and counters stretching a distance. We visited just before 10am and it wasn’t at all busy at that hour. See more..

A short distance from the Castle is this uniquely ornamented abode. With the entire façade decorated with local shells, it catches the attention when going by. It was fascinating to learn that it began with a family in the 1950s. She studied the town’s history and began to tell visitors who were starting to arrive of same. With the income they managed to build this grand house. To reflect their love of the sea they decided to decorate the full façade with local shells. Giving the lovely attraction we see today.
