This lake has a circular walk with fantastic views. The complete walk takes less than 2 hours. If you don’t want to walk too far, you can travel back from the far side of the lake on a pretty boat (8 Euros adult fare). There is also quaint cafe on the far side of the lake “See Wiese”. We stopped there for some tea and cake (also serves gluten free cake!), very tasty. Great afternoon out.See more..

I took the route from Eschachalm via Neualm to Duisitzkarsee and back to Eschachalm. The first leg (to Neualm) was a nice walk through forests and along some wild waters. The second leg from Neualm to the beautiful Duisitzkarsee was quite challenging (do not even try to do this leg without proper hiking shoes!) , due to the rather narrow path full of stones, roots etc. - it seemed endless until finally the Duisitzkarsee came in sight. The view definitely paid off for the efforts! Enjoyed a very tasty meal in Fahrlechhütte before surrounding the lake and heading back to the starting point.See more..

We just wanted to find a nice place to visit shortly before leaving the area. This lake is surrounded by the mountains and have such a nice climate that the temperature was a bit higher than in the cities. The walk around the lake is about 45 min. There are banches to sit, tables for picnic and mountainbike and bike roads arond as well. Don’t miss if you are near. See more..

The 2 small towns are in the centre of Austria, the Salzkammergut a scenic area with dozens of pristine lakes for fishing and swimming – if you can brave the cold water. It is a Paradise for hikers and bikers in summer and skiers in winter. We missed the famous Ausseer Kirtag, a very popular folk festival by a week. Make sure you have a look at the many traditional Dirndl and Lederhosen worn by the residents young and old.See more..

This was my favourite of several lakes we visited during a holiday to Slovenia and Austria (including Lake Bled). It's relatively small so can be easily walked around, is spoilt only by a single restaurant and the waterfall at the far side looks spectacular both at a distance and close up (there's a relatively arduous 15 minute climb to reach it). I don't think most of the photos posted here do it justice so I've uploaded one of my own (in May when we visited the mountains behind the lake still had plenty of snow on them). The car-park is free but there's a toll booth at the bottom of the road leading up to the lake.See more..

It’s a right place to have lunch after touring the Riegersburg Museums. If you plan to come here do not forget to bring your swim apparels, because you can also swim in their lake with a couple of Euros.
