- 4.5 Schloss Eggenberg (717 reviews)
-One of the best things to see in Graz.
Tuesday: 8:00 AM - 7:00 PM Spent 2-3 hours Castles • Parks • Art Museums
The unique architecture of Schloss Eggenberg, the most important great house in Styria, is a complex symbolic representation of the universe. At the same time, with its impressive combination of Baroque interiors (magnificent state rooms), magical gardens and park, and priceless collections of the Universalmuseum Joanneum (Alte Galerie with its old masters paintings, Archaeology Museum and Coin Cabinet), Eggenberg contains a fascinatingly varied panorama of Styrian culture over the centuries. UNESCO World Heritage Site! Please note: dogs are not allowed in the park to protect our peacocks. See more..
- 4.5 Riegersburg Castle (261 reviews)
-Really good visit to a unique castle
Tuesday: Spent 2-3 hours Castles • History Museums
Riegersburg Castle is situated on top of a 482 m dormant volcano. The "strongest fortress of Christianity" was first mentionend 1138. The Riegersburg is the property of the princely family of Liechtenstein sind 1822 who endeavour to preserve and restore the fortress. Make an art history time travel in the castle from the Gothic chapel over to the Renaissance Knights Hall and to the Baroque White Hall. The fortress is easily accessible by lift, situated north of the castle. You can also enter the Riegersburg climbing up the footpath through the 7 archways. For the ascent you need about 20 minutes. For the adventurous there is the via ferrata. See more..

- 4.5 Burgruine Gösting (79 reviews)
-Stunning view over Graz
Historic Sites • Ancient Ruins • Castles
The ruins of the Gösting Castle rise up where the Mur River Valley opens up into Graz. Built in this strategic position between the 11th and the 15th centuries, the castle could control all traffic into Graz. In 1925, the Castle Society was founded to attempt to prevent further destruction after years of neglect and fires during the 18th and 19th centuries. Rising 200 meters over the Mur River, Gösting Ruins offers great views over Graz. See more..

- 4.5 Schloss Kornberg (30 reviews)
-An astonishing place and kind hearts I've met in Austrian Styria
Spent 1-2 hours Castles
After arriving I immediately regretted that the rest of my family was not with me and could not plunge into the atmosphere that prevailed at this place. A beautifully decorated courtyard, Xmas market and joyful guests surrounded me. I met the count himself, the owner of the castle, who impressed me with indefatigable energy and friendly attitude. The interior of the castle is so beautiful and every thing there breathes history. It's a pity that there was no time to listen to an excursion, but I will definitely return to Kornberg with my children soon. I especially want to note the exhibition of miniatures of castles located nearby. Layouts look like real ones, carefully selected and the whole exhibition is composed with great enthusiasm and love. Without exaggeration, I will say that this is a must see place for everyone. See attached some photos of the Schloss Kornberg and the Castle exhibition. See more..

- 3.5 Schloss Hollenegg (7 reviews)
-Beautiful and Peaceful Place to Visit
Spent 1-2 hours Architectural Buildings • Castles • Churches & Cathedrals
Scholss Hollenegg is a castle complex in the Styria area of Austria. It is owned by Prince DI Prince Alfred of Liechtenstein. The castle itself is not open to the public. Locals say that the only time that the public is allowed in is for Sunday service in the chapel during the summer. The grounds are open to the public. In fact, the horse stables are now used as a community hall. In fact, it housed indoor portions of the Christmas market while I visited. The Christmas market was small; however, it seemed that the whole community was there - the locals knew each other. I enjoyed this market as most of the goods were definitely locally made. The public can walk around the castle grounds and get a feel for the magnificence and age of the castle. Since I love beautiful architecture, the walk was fascinating. The castle is surrounded by beautiful woods. Even the children were having fun playing on the paths and lawn of the structure. This is a great visit for someone who loves castles or just wants to walk around and enjoy the grounds. See more..

-Must visit if you are in the neighborhood
Spent 2-3 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks • Castles
I was at the Der Retzhof for the Easter market. Walked pleasantly in the market while enjoying the garden and the patio of the castle. A week later, I was there for a conference. We had a week of training at the facility. At that time I also used the hotel that is located in the premises. You can rent a bike and go for a bike ride or follow the trail for a good walk. They offer a map. I was trully happy with the hospitality of the Castle management. See more..

Spent < 1 hour Castles
Nachdem die Burg jahrelang nur von der Autobahn gesehen wurde, viel die Entscheidung endlich die Burg und die Ausstellung, Japaneum zu besuchen. -Nice little museum
Spent < 1 hour Castles • History Museums
We visited this castle because it was included in the free section of the Dachstein Sommercard. The castle itself is not very impressive, it's a rather small and plain building. In the outside area you can watch a little garden. Mostly it consists out of plants that can be used for medical purposes. Unfortunately it doesn't give you a lot of details, so if you are a bit familiar with this topic, you won't learn anything new. Inside you find a small natural history museum that shows the local wildlife, geographical details and more about the region. That part was quite nice. Also it surprisingly is somewhat interactive and tries to use a bit of modern technology like tablets. So if you are in the area this place is worth a visit, especially on a bad weather day (though you have to walk a few minutes from the not well signed parking space). See more..

Abschließend in den Badesee zum Abkühlen ;) See more..

-Schloss, Landesschülerheim, Flüchtlingslager, jetzt geschlossen
Spent < 1 hour Castles
See more..
