Beautiful and serene indeed

This was my favourite of several lakes we visited during a holiday to Slovenia and Austria (including Lake Bled). It's relatively small so can be easily walked around, is spoilt only by a single restaurant and the waterfall at the far side looks spectacular both at a distance and close up (there's a relatively arduous 15 minute climb to reach it). I don't think most of the photos posted here do it justice so I've uploaded one of my own (in May when we visited the mountains behind the lake still had plenty of snow on them). The car-park is free but there's a toll booth at the bottom of the road leading up to the lake.

Very nice area for a relaxed walk
This is a quite beautiful spot to visit, also it doesn't require much effort. You can drive to a parking space nearby. If you have the Dachstein Sommercard, you can use the road for free, otherwise you have to pay a little toll. From the parking space a gravel road next to a little creek leads you in 15 minutes (if you walk in a relaxed speed) to the lake. From far away you can already see the waterfall and if you invest another 40 minutes you easily make it there and back including having walked around the lake. Also at the lake there is a restaurant where you can eat. Alternatively there is also a restaurant at the parking space. Additionally this can also be the starting point for a few different hikes.

Beautiful and serene - a hidden gem
A gentle amble around a trout filled lake, with a short but steep hike to the waterfall. Followed by a sumptuous meal of trout or venison (and more) followed by a delicious torte and coffee. 5/5! A hidden gem
