The 2 small towns are in the centre of Austria, the Salzkammergut a scenic area with dozens of pristine lakes for fishing and swimming – if you can brave the cold water. It is a Paradise for hikers and bikers in summer and skiers in winter. We missed the famous Ausseer Kirtag, a very popular folk festival by a week. Make sure you have a look at the many traditional Dirndl and Lederhosen worn by the residents young and old.
