  1. 4.5 Muslim Quarter (4.125 reviews)
    - Interesting and cultural place. Worth to visit
Wednesday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Muslim Quarter image
I would say this place is mostly for business for the local Muslim community. It is really nice to visit it though, especially in the evening. What I would recommend is to skip dinner and go there in the evening and try various kinds of foods. You will be surprised and I think most of the people would enjoy the food. You must try the local specialty, the grilled squid. Many places have it. It is really nice. You can also buy there many souvenirs. Probably no performances, as I did not experience any but loads of food and souvenirs and other things to buy. Surely worth to go! See more..

  3. 4.5 Dayan Pagoda Northern Square (981 reviews)
    - Best to visit in the evening
Wednesday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Points of Interest & Landmarks • Fountains
    Dayan Pagoda Northern Square image
This is a large area located right next to the wild goose pagoda. the key highlight here is the light and water fountain show. While the show is available on the hour from day to night it is best to catch it in the evening. Set against the backdrop of the wild goose pagoda, the show is pretty spectacular. The water fountains are spread across an area about 600 meters long and 50 meters wide. The fountains literally dance to the music, and the accompanying lights are a sight to watch. The show last for about 15 minutes. Other than The light show the courtyard is also an area where older folks gather to dance and exercise. There are also bronze sculptures portraying life back then spread across the courtyard. See more..
  4. 4.0 Drum Tower Square (343 reviews)
    - Been here-it’s huge!

    Drum Tower Square image
Watch for pickpockets and also hawkers trying to sell cheap terra-cotta ripoffs. Then again, watch the sellers selling the more expensive version saying that only there’s won’t fall apart and is better quality. Every man for himself here!. See more..
  5. 4.0 Shu Yuan Men ( Ancient Culture Street) (170 reviews)
    - 10X better than Muslim Street
Wednesday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Points of Interest & Landmarks • Historic Walking Areas
Shu Yuan Men ( Ancient Culture Street) image
This is the only place I've seen in China where you can watch the people make the souveniers as you buy them. The artists are painting, making stamps (traditional Chinese things made from marble), practicing calligraphy, and so on. It's a much more peaceful walk, usually not very crowded, and the general ambiance is calm and open-minded. The artists don't shout at you to buy their wares (unlike Muslim Street). Prices are surprisingly fair (e.g. 30 yuan for stamps, 50 for some paintings). The stalls close early, around 6 pm, but stick around for some street bbq! See more..
  6. 4.5 Grand Tang Dynasty Ever Bright City (34 reviews)
    - Great Tang All Day Mall is amazing

Grand Tang Dynasty Ever Bright City image
As part of our tour through china we had the opportunity to visit this place and we are glad we did. After seeing so many streets in china where is felt like a tourist trap I felt like I was part of the Chinese culture. The street is extremely busy but not with tourists, but locals. All age groups were there. We arrived just before dark and the lights were just being turned on. The vendors were out in force with food, souvenirs, entertainers. For as busy as this place was it was relatively clean compared to other places we visited in china. We spent over an hour walking this street, but we ran out of time. We could not find any western toilets so if that is an issue find one before you visit here. We did try a couple of sticks of local food, some very tasty, some not but was worth trying. There were a few restaurants along the way but we did not try them. I felt very safe here but would still say to keep your guard up with your valuables. See more..
  7. 4.0 Baota shan (27 reviews)
    - Baota Shan & Pagoda
Wednesday: 6:00 AM - 9:30 PM Mountains • Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Baota shan image
We visited Baota Shan and chose to climb up the Pagoda. For the climb up, be prepared for the very narrow passageways and stairs that lead 9 storeys up to the top. As the space is very narrow and only one way, be prepared to give way by walking backwards if there are people coming from the other direction. Not recommended for those who are claustrophobic. 8. 3.5 Yan'an Baota Pagoda (11 reviews)
    - The precious pagoda symbol of Yan’an
Ancient Ruins • Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Yan'an Baota Pagoda image
This is a 44-metre high, octagonal, brick pagoda. It is a protected national relic, the symbol of Yan’an, and located on the top of Baota Hill (Pagoda Hill), which is 1136 metres in height and overlooks Yan'an City. Similar to many pagodas in China, it is illuminated in the evening. President Xi Jinping has referred to Baota Mountain as the symbol of the Chinese Communist revolution. The pagoda was originally built during the Tang Dynasty (618 to 907), and rebuilt during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). An inexpensive way to get to the pagoda is by bus # 1 or #3. They can be boarded at Yan'an Railway Station, or anywhere along their routes. There is a 65 rmb admission fee to tour the pagoda. See more..

Shimen Scenic Resort of Hanzhong image
See more..

Wednesday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM Points of Interest & Landmarks • Civic Centres
    Huixin Carved Stone image
See more..
  13. 4.0 Dangjiacun Ancient Buildings (5 reviews)
    - Dangjia village
Wednesday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Points of Interest & Landmarks • Architectural Buildings
    Dangjiacun Ancient Buildings image
The village is mainly composed of people with surnames Dang and Jia, about 320 families and over 1,400 persons. It is named Dang Village because people of surname Dang lived here earlier. It was built in 1331 and reached its prosperity period in the Ming and Qing Dynasties (1368-1911). Professor Charles of the Institute of Architects in Britain once said 'The oriental architectural culture lies in China, while Chinese traditional residential architectural culture lies in Hancheng.' Japanese Doctor Qingmu Zhengfu also praised Dang Village as the living fossil of the oriental people's traditional ancient village. Among the architectures, the Siheyuan (Courtyards) ranks first in popularity. See more..

We were able to spend one day in Xi'an to visit the city and the Terra Cotta soldiers museum site. DingYi was there to pick us up at the train station and we spent a terrific day touring and learning about this former capital of China. DingYi was informative and made us feel very welcomed. His prices were very reasonable and we treated with utmost respect. We truly were welcomed to Xi'an and only wished that we could have spent more than one day there! See more..

    Hancheng Town's God Temple image
The entrance into this temple is through an alleyway decorated with a Ming-era screen depicting glazed dragons and tigers. Apart from this fine tile-work, the city temple offers a variety of halls and pavilions, some of them dating back to the Qing and Ming dynasties. It is a worthwhile stop on the way through Hancheng's old town, but it is much less impressive than the nearby Confucian complex. See more..

Wednesday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Points of Interest & Landmarks • Civic Centres
    Agu SpringScenic Resort image

    AnLan Pagoda image
We lived in a hotel right across from this pagoda. It took less than 10 minutes to walk up there. It is another beautiful building of Chinese architecture. It is just pity it was closed to public in this time due to redecorating. Anyways, it is also very beautiful to see from the outside. It has beautiful park with some animals (met a snake :-D ) If you just walk outside to take photos, it may take you appx. 20-30 minutes and you are done. If you went indoors, I would guess one more hour because from the the top of the pagoda must be a beautiful scenery. If you walk down the stairs in the park, you get to the riverside where is a running track, you may take some panorama photos. Some people were actually playing in the river. See more..
