- 4.0 Yuquan Courtyard of Huashan (51 reviews)
-A really beautiful taoist temple at the base of Hua Mountain
Religious Sites
This temple has several courtyards with ancient trees, carvings, and miniature ponds. The walkways around the courtyards are full of beautifully painted wooden beams. It is a great place to lie down before the long walk up Mount Hua if there are not too many people. It gets crowded and noisy during holidays, but otherwise is generally peaceful and quite beautiful. -Very beautiful temple where you really feel the history
Wednesday: 8:30 AM - 6:00 PM Religious Sites
A beautiful place to see. After a 10km bike ride on a city bike I did not have to pay any entrance fee and as a welcome gift everyone received a mask and a bottle of water. It was yet close to 40 degrees. The place is beautiful, full of colors, definitely worth for taking photos. Also monks have there regular sessions, many people go to pray there. For me, as I like visiting temples, this was the most beautiful one within our 12 day trip by car around Sichuan and Shaanxi. See more..
- 4.5 Caotang Temple (16 reviews)
-Caotang Temple
Wednesday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Ancient Ruins • Religious Sites
I once read a novel about Kumarajiva (a great Buddhist monk) and his life story, and know that Caotang Temple is the place where he translated the great Buddhist sutra. So I planned to visit this place. Caotang Temple is located at the foot of north Gui Peak of Hu County, Xian. It is famous for a historical celebrity Kumarajiva who translated Buddhist sutra into Chinese. The temple was said to be built in the East Jin Dynasty. The view arround the temple is also very beatiful. See more..

-Beautiful temple!
Wednesday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Religious Sites • Monuments & Statues
The temple grounds area is pretty typical except for one big slab that has been preserved. I was told that it is very old. There's a big dong being at 99 times for the most best luck ever. Inside the main temple is an amazing display of art and craft work. It's really beautiful and totally worth the visit. See more..
- 4.0 Lou Guantai National Forest Park (9 reviews)
-Stunning
Wednesday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM Parks • Forests • Religious Sites
There's a walk in these mountains, past the Panda Reserve, called the '2000 steps'. Do it. It may be tiring, but the view from the top of the mountains, looking down on an idyllic, remote Chinese landscape, is unforgettable. It is stereotypical rural China, and what more could you ask for from a small rural village, an hour outside Xi'an. Loved it. See more..

See more..

-This Buddah is really cool but a little difficult to find.
Wednesday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM Religious Sites
After driving the 150km to Binxian we found the initial big tourist sign for the Big Buddah at the Binxian exit. Then followed the directions on this site to find nothing. In fact if you go look for the sign Dafosi and follow this as it's the correct sign. We enjoyed this historical site and particularly the big buddah. In fact even more than the Leshan big buddah. However it is a long drive with not much else to do upon arrival. See more..

Wednesday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Mountains • Forests • Religious Sites
See more..
- 4.0 Jintai Taoist Abbey (3 reviews)
-A beautiful combination of old and new.
Wednesday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Ancient Ruins • Religious Sites
I've been to Jintai Abbey several times during the time I've lived in Baoji. Currently it is being expanded and new parts are being added. These are all very nice to look at, but the best part is the old shrines which are dug into the rock face. These open out into a courtyard surrounded by temple buildings and are often frequented by Taoist monks and nuns who are always surprised and happy to receive foreign visitors and always up for a chat. It's a bit of a climb to get there but definitely worth it. See more..

-Beautiful place
Religious Sites
It is easy to access by pulic transit from Hu county. The admission is not expensive only RMB 25 for adult and half price for kids higher than 1.2m. Stone tablets are very attractive. The legend of the ancient tree revives after the master's tomb was restored from Chinese Culture Revolution is amazing. The expansion is under construction in the back during the visit. The ancient buildings need funds to protect. A holy Taoist worship place. The master is known by Chinese novel. See more..
- 3.5 Hancheng Town's God Temple (3 reviews)
-Glazed Tigers and Dragons
Points of Interest & Landmarks • Religious Sites
The entrance into this temple is through an alleyway decorated with a Ming-era screen depicting glazed dragons and tigers. Apart from this fine tile-work, the city temple offers a variety of halls and pavilions, some of them dating back to the Qing and Ming dynasties. It is a worthwhile stop on the way through Hancheng's old town, but it is much less impressive than the nearby Confucian complex. See more..

Wednesday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Religious Sites
See more..

Wednesday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM Ancient Ruins • Caverns & Caves • Religious Sites
We drove to Binxian at CNY Spring festival. We followed the big Buddah signs but found the attraction was actually called Dafosi and located in the wall grottoes. An inexpensive entry fee the real feature is the quality Big Buddah inside the large cave. It's quality and features being better than that at Leshan but not as tall. Overall worth the effort.
