Huaqing Palace, also known as the Huaqing Hot spring or Huaqing Pool, is located in Lintong District, Xi'an city. It takes only 10 minutes from terra cotta warriors to Huaqing Palace by tourist bus 306. The mystery and scarce hot spring, which can cure diseases, attracted many emperors to build palaces here, Huaqing Palace is one the greatest among them. The design of kinds of hot spring pools represented the simple and original world view of ancient people. 4.0Tang Paradise(486 reviews) - Great for a night time visit. Thursday: 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM Historic Sites • Amusement & Theme Parks
For the fans of the Miyazaki Hayao's Spirited Away, the Ziyun Building definitely reminded me of the Yubaba's Palace. The pond, the buildings around it - all makes you feel like being in the movie. The distant lights of the Tang Pedestrian Mall are like the market where Chihiro's parents got turned into pigs. Entrance was from the West Gate. For foreigners without Chinese IDs had to show passports at the visitor's centre and the enter through a passage for disabled - kudos to the place for having such. At 17:30 there was a fountain and light show in front of the Ziyun building in the pond. Without stopping for landmarks, the park can be walked around in under two hours. On the east and north sides, each lantern along the walkway represents a sad love story from the Tang Dynasty period. There is a theater on site for which shows there are separate tickets sold. The entrance to the park itself is free.See more..

4.5Grand Tang Dynasty Ever Bright City(34 reviews) - Great Tang All Day Mall is amazing Historic Sites • Points of Interest & Landmarks • Architectural Buildings • Scenic Walking Areas
As part of our tour through china we had the opportunity to visit this place and we are glad we did. After seeing so many streets in china where is felt like a tourist trap I felt like I was part of the Chinese culture. The street is extremely busy but not with tourists, but locals. All age groups were there. We arrived just before dark and the lights were just being turned on. The vendors were out in force with food, souvenirs, entertainers. For as busy as this place was it was relatively clean compared to other places we visited in china. We spent over an hour walking this street, but we ran out of time. We could not find any western toilets so if that is an issue find one before you visit here. We did try a couple of sticks of local food, some very tasty, some not but was worth trying. There were a few restaurants along the way but we did not try them. I felt very safe here but would still say to keep your guard up with your valuables.See more..

I visited this place as part of 2D1N Yanan/Hukou tour from Xian. Those who are keen in Chinese political history will probably enjoy this place more than the casual tourists. This site was generally well maintained and preserved, such as the auditorium & the residences of Chairman Mao, Premier Zhou Enlai and other Chinese Communist Party's early leaders. Worthwhile to visit if you are in Yanan region.See more..

4.0Dangjia Village(10 reviews) - Excellent place to see how the ancients lived. Thursday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Historic Sites
This was the village my wife was born into before the government moved all the residents out to the modern Hancheng City. There are many good displays to walk around and see. A good opportunity to see how countryside people lived. It's mostly original and not modernized. The street are cobble type paving and you have to walk down a steep road. If you infirm at all I would not recommend. I found it very interesting.See more..
4.0Fenghuang Town(8 reviews) - Beautiful old town Thursday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Historic Sites • Ancient Ruins • Architectural Buildings
The town is relatively small, you can walk from one end to another. It has 2 main bridges. You should be able to spend the whole day in the city, walking and explore. For photography, this is an excellent place for human interest photography. For landscape, I think it is hard to get a sunrise or sunset photo. But if you walk early in the morning, you should be able to capture the misty that surrounds the town. I did walk up to the hill, unfortunately the sunset was not so clear. For moslem, there is satay seller on each end of Hong bridge. They sells sheep satay, very delicious. Unfortunately I couldn't find any other halal food in the city. Bring your own food or order white rice, boiled egg and fresh vegetable :)See more..
4.5Xi'an Yaozhou Kiln Ruins(6 reviews) - Small museum with a BIG story to tell Thursday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM Historic Sites
Around 70 km from Xi'an, this lovely, small, uncrowded museum tells the story of one of the most famous of 6 ancient kilns making pottery and porcelain. We found the exhibits very well-presented, detailing the rise and fall of the kiln from the Tang through to the Yuan Dynasties (more than 800 years!), and the history of celadon ware. The different color glazes and various methods for making the porcelains (incised, impressed, mold-made) are well-documented. Around the back of the museum are life-size statues showing the various stages of pottery-manufacturing. We were told that visitors could try their hands at making pottery here under the supervision of artists, but when we were there, this area was deserted. Down the road, for an additional fee of 20 yuan, you can visit the actual excavations of various kilns (#1-9) in use during different dynasties. We had to search to find someone to open the museum, which seems to be very new (still smells of paint) as of mid-June, 2013. Sadly, there is a dearth of English captions in this exhibit. As an archaeologist, this was extremely fascinating, altho I would think that anyone interested in Chinese ceramics would find these two attractions informative, as well.See more..

4.0Yangjiagou Revolutionary Memorial Hall(4 reviews) - Chairman Mao reported on "The Present Situation and Our Task" Thursday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Historic Sites
Yangjiagou Revolutionary Memorial Hall is located in Mizhi County, Yulin, Shaanxi Province; Chairman Mao moved to the north of Shaanxi for four months. The famous meeting of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) was held here in December, at which Chairman Mao reported on "The Present Situation and Our Task." There are many similar memorials throughout China. To date, less than 50% of them, including a few of the most fascinating and beautiful places, are on TripAdvisor. The reason likely is, that at many of the more remote locations, the majority of the signage is in Chinese, and tours are not readily available. Thus, unless you are accompanied by a Chinese friend, it is difficult to appreciate what you are viewing and the significance. I will rate it as “Average,” although the place has little meaning to non-Chinese speakers unless you have a tour guide or translator. However, from the standpoint of historical significance, I would rate it as “Vergy Good.”See more..

4.5Yulin Ancient City(2 reviews) - Nice for strolling around Historic Sites • Ancient Ruins Do not expect for the lively tourist district. However, it's beautiful ancient street with nice and gorgeous ancient architecture. See more..
Tang Taizong is famous for skipping the whole construct-a-mound routine when it came to his tomb, and using an existing mountain instead. Unfortunately, this means that the tomb is located at the top of a mountain. It's quite a way up, so getting a ride in a car or bike is a good idea. I got a ride up and down thanks to a local with a motorbike, for a small fee. The tomb complex is beautiful, with a big statue of the emperor (in his portrait pose) towering near the gate, and various stelae, monuments, pillars, carved stone inscriptions, and the famous statues (safety replicas, I was told) of the Six Armored Steeds. Those with energy after climbing up to the top end of the complex can hike further up the mountain. One can get to the museum at the foot of the mountain by bus from the city, but getting back means one needs to get to Liquan city. There are occasionally drivers offering trips to the tomb from the museum, but bike pillion is cheaper. One of the best things about the visit, though, is the gorgeous views along the mountain road.See more..
See more..
