    Monday: 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Wineries & Vineyards
    Bodegas Lecea image
Best Wine Experience of Spain 2016. Bodegas Lecea is a trip to the origins of Rioja wine through a tour of the old neighborhoud of Bodegas from San Asensio. In this neighborhood there are more than 350 family wineries dug in the rock in the sixteenth century, all with families production in the past and abandoned today. Bodegas Lecea is the only one that still conserves four caves connected as wine cellars and in operation, with a labyrinthine route of more than 300 meters underground. Lecea Winery still produces and ferments their wines in a constant temperature in concrete vats. The same way that their ancestors worked in the sixteenth century. The winery preserves the old traditions of elaboration like the treading of the grape and pressed in the hand press for the elaboration of its more special wine "Heart of Lake" or "Corazon de Lago", a wine made with carbonic maceration, like those that people drunk before the mechanization of the wineries. The guided tour lasts approximately one hour and is conducted in groups with a specialized guide. During the tour old work tools are shown as goat skin to transport wine, pitcher and wooden tubs. It is also a final video to underestand better the artisian process of Corazon de Lago. A visit to travel trought the time, for the diffusion of the ancestral traditions of La Rioja, for the recovery of the roots and the total comprehension of winemaking precess from the XVI century until our days. A journey back in time to our best origins. (The reservations must be made by phone through our website. The temperature of the underground cellar is 13º all year round, so a jacket is necessary even in summer.) We are waiting for you in our family winery, Bodegas Lecea! See more..

    Marques de Murrieta image
Marques de Murrieta is an older than 165 years-old winery where the deep respect for the history and the tradition finds a perfect balance with the focus on the future. Its origin dates from 1852 when Luciano Murrieta y Garcia -Lemoine produces the first fine wine from Rioja and is the first one to export it. He acquires the Ygay Estate and builds his emblematic Ygay Castle. In 1983 Vicente Cebrian Sagarriga, tenth Count of Creixell, takes over the project and after his death in 1996, his children, who are currently responsible of such an ambitious and endearing family business that they strengthen day after day with its presence in the different continents. - Excellent wine, worthwhile stop
    Monday: 10:30 AM - 2:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Wineries & Vineyards
    Bohedal Bodega Boutique image
I have been here several times and every time I visit Rioja I stop in. If you are into wine and like to discover wines that few other know about, Bohedal is a good place to visit. To begin with, the owner will give you the tour and/or tasting herself. Second, they no longer offer free tasting tours (so you will not be disturbed by busloads of people) and that means more time to enjoy the wine - Hint: if you do decide to buy wine the tasting is normally free. Taste, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder, but the consistent quality of this boutique winery is undeniable. Prices are reasonable for the region and the visit is well worthwhile if you are in the Haro region and would like a more personal tour of a working Rioja winery. See more..
  8. 5.0 Bodega Conde de los Andes (231 reviews)
    - Amazing experience
    Monday: 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM, 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Architectural Buildings • Wineries & Vineyards
Bodega Conde de los Andes image
We are in the heart of Rioja Alta, a short distance away from Haro and Briones. Wine is deeply rooted in the history of our small village, as evidenced by its noble houses built in the 17th and 18th centuries. Churrumendi Hill, Ollauri's highest point, offers stunning views of the River Ebro valley, between the Sierra de la Demanda peaks and the limestone walls of Sierra Cantabria and Toloño mountain ranges. Today, with the Murúa family at the helm, Bodegas Ollauri-Conde de los Andes brings back an age-old tradition. It was in 1894 when Federico Paternina built the modern cellar where his ancestors had been making and storing wine since the 15th century. After successive changes in ownership that have marked recent decades, Julián and Javier Murúa have begun a new era. See more..

    - Perfect wine
    Monday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Wineries & Vineyards
    Bodegas Valenciso image
The name Valenciso is an acronym of our founders last names: Luis Valentin and Carmen Enciso. Both have been working in the riojan wine industry for 35 years, and it’s been 21 years since they made the decision to fulfill the dream of their lives: Bodegas Valenciso. A small riojan wine house of big prestige! We are currently in the process of turning ecological, after several years of practicing sustainable viticulture. If you visit us Luis Valentin and Carmen Enciso will offer you their personal attention, and tell you why our Valenciso is a great rioja that surprises. We do visits in both Spanish, English and French! Our wines are elaborated in concrete tanks, before passing them over to French oak barrels, instead of the often-used American oak. All of our wines score over 90 points in the national as well as international guidebooks, and our reserva 2012 has been considered one of the best reservas in rioja by the admirable journalist Tim Atkin. Come visit and try for your self! See more..
  15. 5.0 Arizcuren Bodega & Viñedos (108 reviews)
    - Original, author wine...An awesome combination of innovation and tradition
Monday: Spent 1-2 hours Wineries & Vineyards
    Arizcuren Bodega & Viñedos image
Arizcuren wines are elaborated in a central, discrete Logroño street, recovering an activity for the city that was its own until a few decades ago. In 2016 Javier showcases his cellar garage, an urban space converted into a place of winemaking and aging. The whole artisanal process is a series of multi-purpose stages. The grapes arrive in plastic boxes and from there, they are de-stemmed, vatted and fermented, devatted and pressed, aging in barrels and earthenware, racking, bottling, labeling, encapsulation and of course, dispatch and sale. All of this in just 130 m2, in which the absence of technological advances is offset by enthusiasm and effort in the work developed. An open house project for all those who want to know how to make, care for and live Arizcuren wines. We're open for tours and tastings, don't hesitate to contact us and we'll give you options and availability. See more..
  16. 4.5 Calle del Laurel (3.632 reviews)
    - Eat, Drink. Live- Calle Del Laurel
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Calle del Laurel image
We stayed in Logrono for 3 nights as we wanted to tour the Rioja. For the evenings, we decided to dine at or near Calle Del Laurel. We were spoilt for choice, there were bars, restaurants and bars cum restaurants galore! Some were meat specialists, some seafood, some vegetarian and there is nothing you cannot find. It was crowded, rowdy and fun Most of the places open from 8 pm onwards and at 9 pm, the place teems with patrons. The food by and large was delicious and priced reasonably . My favourite is a piece of foie gras between 2 toasty pieces of baguette. That plus a glass of wine or beer was most satisfying. Needless to say wine and beer flowed the whole evening and it is about the best way to spend an evening in the Rioja See more..

My husband and I had planned on doing a tasting at the bodega when right before we got into a minor car accident. Our google maps wasn't updating so we continued to the winery where we met Cristina who was amazing! She helped us get the car rental company on the phone, gave us water and a tasting. So kind, helpful, an amazing employee! Thank you again Cristina! After things settled down we tried the wines, they were delicious. The building is beautiful both the older parts and the newer Zaha Hadid bar. I only wish we'd had the time to do the full tour. Next time! See more..

  24. 4.5 Calle San Juan (335 reviews)
    - 2nd place in the Logroño`s drinking rating.
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Calle San Juan image
Calle San Juan is second in the five drinking streets of Logroño with a large margin both from the first place, and from Albornoz, San Agustín and Travesía del Laurel. San Juan has a lower concentration of tapas bars than on Calle Laurel. 28 bars at 150 meters. On average, 1 bar every 5.4 meters. This is a lot for an ordinary Spanish city, but not for Logrono. Laurelle boasts a concentration of 1 bar every three meters (65 bars at 200 meters). Accordingly, the phrase "everyone who enters comes out of here with a trunk and on all fours"fully applies to Calle Laurel. But you can stay alive on Calle San Juan or choose one of two positions. That's why I ended the evening here after Laurel. See more..
  25. 4.5 Bodegas David Moreno (328 reviews)
    - Well worth the visit. No need to book.
    Monday: 9:30 AM - 2:30 PM, 3:30 PM - 7:30 PM Spent 1-2 hours Wineries & Vineyards
    Bodegas David Moreno image
It all began when David was 33 years old. He left his job as Technical Engineer in Seat Company, Barcelona, and returned home in Badarán, Rioja, in order to dedícate his life to his true passion: wine. In 1981 David started elaborating his first wines in small wineries that belonged to neighbours and friends. It was in 1988 when, after much effort and sweat, he finally could start with the construction of the current winery. Always together with his beloved wife Mari Trini. Nowadays David is helped by his daughters Gemma and Paula. The three work together to guarantee the continuity of the winery and quality of the wines. David Moreno has always bet for the wine tourism since the beginning of his elaboration activity. Our doors have always been opened, and this is why we are one of the pioneers in this field. We offer to the visitor different options and experiences to enjoy in the vineyard and winery, where they will most of the times be able to meet the family. See more..

    Museo de la Rioja image
In this museum, which is totally free, you can discover the local color and the history of La Rioja through the time, from the prehistory to the 20th century. The museum was very well organized, well explained and what most impressed me is that the pieces are from different parts of La Rioja, so you have the possibility to see the different cultures and economic, artistic activities contained within this Comunidad Autónoma, this region of Spain. The staff members were very friendly and helpful. If you pass by Logroño, don't miss it. It is also located in the middle of Laurel area, full of restaurants and bars to eat delicious tapas and wine See more..
  29. 4.5 Bodegas Ontañón, El Templo del Vino (218 reviews)
    - Interesting
    Monday: 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Wineries & Vineyards
Bodegas Ontañón, El Templo del Vino image
If you are planning to visit a winery in Rioja, you cannot miss Bodegas Ontañón and our unique Templo del Vino. It is one of the most special wineries in the Rioja wine appellation just 5 minutes from the centre of Logroño. The Pérez Cuevas Family, founders of Bodegas Ontañón, has been connected with the land and with wine for over 80 years. In those days they made their own wine in a hermit’s cave-type wine cellar in the “Bodegas Quarter” of Quel, following a tradition dating back over 300 years. Their passion for this drink led them to share this “Wine Cult” with the rest of the world and that is why they founded the first Temple of Wine in Logroño. They did not just create a winery for making and ageing wine, but rather a special place, looked after by the God of Wine and Mythological Heroes in the form of huge sculptures, paintings and stained glass, where the wine of the Ontañón Family attains its maximum expression. 30. 4.5 Catedral de El Salvador de Santo Domingo de la Calzada (212 reviews)
    - A must see in Santo Domingo de la Calzada
    Spent < 1 hour Churches & Cathedrals
Catedral de El Salvador de Santo Domingo de la Calzada image
This cathedral must be visited for several reasons. Firstly the sepulcher of Santo Domingo is actually beautiful. Secondly the baroque retable from Damián Forment (early 16th century) is the only one from this artist to be wood-carved. This retable is now set in the transept because when he was removed in 1995 to be refurbished, the Roman aspe was discovered again, especially its 4 pillars including one featuring king David and his luth (third reason). Finally, do not miss the white living cock and hen, illustrating the famous legend of the unhanged hangman. See more..
