Best winery visiting experience

Marques de Murrieta is an older than 165 years-old winery where the deep respect for the history and the tradition finds a perfect balance with the focus on the future. Its origin dates from 1852 when Luciano Murrieta y Garcia -Lemoine produces the first fine wine from Rioja and is the first one to export it. He acquires the Ygay Estate and builds his emblematic Ygay Castle. In 1983 Vicente Cebrian Sagarriga, tenth Count of Creixell, takes over the project and after his death in 1996, his children, who are currently responsible of such an ambitious and endearing family business that they strengthen day after day with its presence in the different continents. The uniqueness and quality of the Marques de Murrieta wines is determined, to a great extent, by the singular caracter of the Ygay Estate, 300 hectares of own vineyards located around the winery, which allow the absolute control of the raw material. Fantastic experience
We visited and did the tour with lunch and tasting paired with wine. It was absolutely fantastic . Our guide for the tour ( Danielle ? ) was very informative and interesting. With a doubt the star of the show was Frederico our sommelier and host for lunch. The chefs too were outstanding, the food and wine were exceptional, I have never had an experience like it. We must have spent 3 hours over our 9 course lunch , and finally left at 5 pm , in time to visit the wine shop on site. The place is not cheap, but you certainly get your money’s worth if you are prepared to pay. This is a place for a special occasion , we were celebrating a significant birthday with a friend , it did not disappoint.

    Fantastic Experience
An absolute high point of our visit to the Rioja reigon. The hospitality and knowledge of the staff was outstanding. The facility is incredible and beautiful. Cannot say enough about the amazing lunch pairing with the wines. Also, the Gran Reserva was the best Rioja I have ever had, easily top 5 wines I have ever tasted. Highly recommend if you can book a tour.
