  1. 5.0 Lipa Cave (678 reviews)
    - AdvenTour

    Lipa Cave image
Lipa cave is one of the largest cave monuments in Montenegro. Its 2,5 km long system of passages and halls makes it a place you simply must visit while in Montenegro. The beauty of Lipa cave was recognized and admired by notable historic figures, among which the Montenegrin royalty. Lipa cave was known of prior to Njegos’ time, and cave expeditions were organized even back then. Various renowned explorers from the 19th century left written documents regarding the cave’s existence and its abundance in cave ornaments, and explorations continue up to this day. Cave is located only 5km from town center of Cetinje, 33km from Budva, and 35km from capital city of Podgorica. In 2017 cave tour has been prolonged, visitors now spend longer time in the cave admiring additional cave galleries. Lipa cave was opened in 2015 and since then it’s been offering unforgettable tours conducted by trained guides whose kind and helpful attitude adds to the overall experience. See more..

I can absolutely recommend Ivana and her family business when you are at Skadar Lake! We spontaneously stopped at Skadar Lake and Ivana was really helpful when I texted her a few hours in advance! She organized a tour for us and we loved it! Since we were the only ones taking a tour around the time we arrived we even got a private tour. We stopped for a swim on the way and saw multiple beautiful birds. The prices were very reasonable and we can highly recommend doing a tour with Ivana and her family. I wish we would have had more time so we could have done the longer boat tour. Anyways, it was a great experience! See more..

  4. 5.0 Pavlova Strana Viewpoint (13 reviews)
    - Worth the drive
    Lookouts
    Pavlova Strana Viewpoint image
What seems to be simple the best viewpoint in the Lake Skadar area is worth a brief detour. En route to Ctenji a 20m detour of the main road takes you to the viewpoint. Quite some brushes overgrow the views, so worth looking from some different angles other than the plateau itself. The route back up to the main road is a very narrow and windy one. See more..

  7. 5.0 Skadar Lake Family Resort (3 reviews)
    - Best around Skadar lake

    Skadar Lake Family Resort image
This is the best starting point for any activities in the whole Skadar lake national park. Because we could do a marvellous boot trip with Dusko, the owner. Even more, they offer the best food in that area (we tried several restos), try the carp, Dusko fishes it on his own and you feel it. What makes the difference eventually is the hospitality here. We travelled around a lot but here it was just like we heard the Balkan is. Go there, enjoy the beat via over the lake on their huge terrace and enjoy. Like we did. See more..

Observation Deck on the Mountain Lovcen image
After a couple of hundred steps, you get here easily. You can first visit the mausoleum, but after that short stop, move towards the deck where you have (before as well) an amazing view. Because it is the second highest mountain of Montenegro (number one is very close) you can see very far. On a clear day you can see half the country. If you are up there you will see the sea, many mountains, hills, villages, forest and many more. It was a crazy cool view over Montenegro and one of my absolute highlights in Yugoslavia. See more..

  28. 4.0 Museum of King Nikola (173 reviews)
    - Well maintained museum for 5 euro

    Museum of King Nikola image
Nice museum of the original house for King Nicholas and his family. The museum attempts to reconstruct the exact way the family used to live in the house. Different rooms allow visitors to have a glimpse of the royal daily life at the time. The museum also has a display of weaponry, clothing, coins, paintings and portraits, personal items, dinnerware, stamps and of course furniture of that period some even original from the house. The museum costs 5 euro per person to be paid in cash. We received a paper flyer in English describing the rooms which was helpful since the museum doesn’t have any write up in front of it in the rooms. We had to return the flyer upon exit. See more..

    National Museum of Montenegro image
This building as the National Museum of Montenegro houses both museums on Montenegrin history and Montenegrin art (and artists). Both museums feature broad and well-curated collections of important items. In the history museum it is primarily military uniforms, banners, regimental flags, weapons, etc and the art museum covers all genres of art from religious to modern. We spent more than an hour here and were glad we saved it until the last and were happy we'd fortified ourselves with coffee and a snack before embarking on it! You can purchase the Museum Pass ticket which is valid for all Cetinje museums including this one, King Nikola's Palace (Palais Royal), the Njegos Museum, the Map of Montenegro (currently closed under renovation) and the Ethnographic Museum. A great value! See more..

In the museum you can see not only the famous billiard table after which the building is named and which was given to Njegoš as a gift, but there are more Njegoš’ personal effects, including for example his bishop’s cross. Furniture, clothes, daily necessities, very interesting documents are on the display here. See more..
