Njegos Museum Biljarda, Cetinje, Montenegro

4.0 (70 reviews) Spent Ranking #10 in Cetinje Speciality Museums

Famous billiard table

Biljarda is the former residence of Petar II Petrović Njegoš. The entrance fee to the museum is €3 and if you want to see the relief map of Montenegro as well, you have to buy a ticket separately. It is for €2. In the museum you can see not only the famous billiard table after which the building is named and which was given to Njegoš as a gift, but there are more Njegoš’ personal effects, including for example his bishop’s cross. Furniture, clothes, daily necessities, very interesting documents are on the display here.

Nice collection, helpful personel and incredible stories
You need the guide to figure out what is going on... suggestive architecture and collection, nice staff and interesting history but it is one of those places where you need some key info.

Concentrated on the historical relief map ... Very insightful
The 3D Relief map is huge & would have allowed the generals to have a helicopter view of all of Montenegro. When viewed you cannot escape the simple fact that the country is ALL MOUNTAINS ... except for a very small coastal area. Apparently constructed in WW1 to help with military strategies. The map is housed under a large glass roof which throws different light & shade on the exhibit & does make it a bit tricky getting an overall impression. It also makes this area quite hot. I can visualise plenty of "upgrades" that would make this century old exhibit more relevant to the obvious tourist interests of today. Layering a light show to highlight points of interest would add a new dimension to the 3D.
