Arrival in the village of Virpazar can be a little overwhelming. With so much choice as to who takes you out on the spectacular lake it can be hard to decide. I’d recommend crossing the bridge, turning right and looking for the banner for Golden Frog. Here you’ll find a friendly welcome from Ivana, who’ll share her immense knowledge of Lake Skadar as she guides you on a tour in a traditional wooden boat with a skipper. The tour can be as long or short as you choose - but would recommend a minimum of two hours to get the benefit - its so vast anything less would barely touch the sides. Ivana will share Montenegrin history, point out the many birds and plants native to the lake - and much more. Our experience was incredible and something that’ll stay with me for a long time. We took a two hour boat tour with Boat Milica and it was amazing! The skipper was incredible at spotting wildlife to point out. We were introduced to tasty water chestnuts and had a beautiful relaxed swim in the middle of the lake. Lake Skadar is stunning and we 100% recommend touring it with this family run business. One of the best tours I have ever done travelling. Our guide Vlad and trusty captain Bobo were so nice and funny. They told us a lot about the lake and the history of Virpazar, there were snacks and drinks on board and we even had the chance to go swimming in a remote area! My partner and I stayed at Apartment Milena for one night and were able to get a tour with Milan on his speed boat the day we arrived. All we can say is it was one of our best experiences in Montenegro!!! Everything was perfect and Milan was super helpful and insightful, giving us interesting facts about Skadar lake and the surrounding area. We were able to bring drinks during the tour and stop at the monastery at the top of the mountain which we highly recommend. He gave us great recommendations for a great BBQ and was kind enough to take us there after the tour. Eagle boat tours are a very professional and experienced tour. We did the private boat cruise for two hours, more so because it gave us the flexibility on choosing the time. Passing through Godinje on bicycles on the main road we followed the signs for a restaurant. It was very steep uphill, but worth the climb, as the village and the settings are beautiful. (Un)fortunately there were no one at the restaurant, so around the corner we instead met Miskovic. He served us his own delicious high quality homemade wine, food, brandy and liquors. He enthusiastically explained us about the products and production. His principal is that he only serves wine and food that he would like to have himself. He also explained the village's history. We had a really great day at sea (diving, snorkelling, swimming, sunbathing and lots of good conversations). Jake as skipper and his two divers are real professionals. The atmosphere on the boat was really good. We have started our tour in Bar at 10:00 in the morning and 7 hours later we were back. There were 4 stops in total (reef, bay, dark tunnel, wreck). My wife and our little daughter were even allowed to escort us. The tour is also suitable for beginners who are diving for the first time. This is by far the highlight of our trip to Montenegro so far! Fantastic, helpful and extremely knowledgeable lady (sorry, we didn't get your name!) who explained the tour to us! The boat was so quaint with a lovely rattan cover (no plastic here!!!). We took a 2 hour tour and wish we'd taken the 3 hour option. The lake and surroundings are breathtaking! So many photo opportunities, make sure you take a dip in the lake...you won't regret it! ARKA can be found to the left side of the monument as you drive over the bridge! We took a ride in a late afternoon. We thought we were late but turns out we chose golden hour to experience a lake in its full beauty. We took off a on small fishing boat equipped with emergency kits with experienced and gorgeous driver Vesko. All recommendation to him! We enjoyed smooth ride with stunning view on lake itself and massive hills around. Diversity of birds is what makes this lake unique in this part of Europe. This was AMAZING trip!!!! We were cruising for 6 hours! We have perfect morning, with Pelicans and other birds, weather was amazing and water was clear and refreshing. We visit Rijeka Crnojevica, make stop there and have perfect lunch. Fish was so taste, and all food was delicious. We had nice walk after lunch, get some souvenirs, and go back on boat. Our captain was amazing guy, and we had also girl Nina, who was explaining and telling all about lake and National park. We stop for swimming, and after it we enjoyed in sunset. Host offered us nice Crmnicko vine, and we all have a blast. One of the most beautiful experience in Montenegro. Must do it!! Stari Grad is an open-air museum. Here you can see the remains of buildings from ancient times. People walk here without a guide. There are signs on buildings with information about where you are right now and what you see. You can see the remains of the Roman-Gothic cathedral of St. George and two Gothic churches or the remains of the church of St. Nicholas, which was built in the 13th century. The best-preserved church building is the church of St. Jan Vladimír, which is located in the very center of the city. Impressive are the remains of the citadel, from which the old aqueduct can be seen. Walking on stony paths and stairs is quite difficult here. I do not recommend visiting this place for people who have walking problems. The entrance fee is €3. Near Stari Bar there is a place where one of the three oldest olive trees in the world grows.
