  1. 5.0 Adenna Rafflesia Garden (7 reviews)
    - Love the authenticity
    Spent < 1 hour Gardens
    Adenna Rafflesia Garden image
Small little garden. If you visit at the right time, there are several rafflesias in the garden. They have fruit trees around there too. My bucket list is done for Rafflesia. How about yours? See more..
  2. 5.0 Last POW Camp Memorial (4 reviews)
    - A humble experience
Wednesday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Historic Sites
    Last POW Camp Memorial image
The Last POW Camp Memorial is a memorial which is a 10 minute drive from the centre of, which commemorates the victims (mainly Australians and British) of the Sandakan Death Marches who died during their forced march by the Japanese to Ranau. The memorial area is gated but well-kept and litter free – You have to pay RM3 (which is tiny) to the family who lives next door to enter but they ensure the upkeep of the site. You can also take the steep stairs down to the river which is where the actual POW camp was. I stumbled across this site and I’m glad I did. It was a very interesting place and is a very easy drive off the main road, not far from Ranau. A must visit for all Australians and Brits who are interested in WW2 history. See more..

    Borneo Strider Toompuka'au image
Had an awesome morning whitewater rafting of approximately 20km. The length of the river is a good fun. It is situated in the village area with great green nature ambience, about an hour away from Kinabalu park. Thanks to the friendly owners, Jeffrey and Brian with their team for giving a thrilling time. See more..
  4. 5.0 Lupa Masa Borneo - Day Tours (2 reviews)
    - Jungle Nirvana!
    Sightseeing Tours
Lupa Masa Borneo - Day Tours image
I spent a couple of days at Lupa Masa in Feb '15, and thought the place was amazing. I loved being so immersed in the forest (I hung my hammock right by the river, so woke to the sound of the rapids), and the food was excellent (I'm veggie anyway) with a varied, interesting menu. We did the 2-day jungle training package, which taught me a lot about how to life comfortably in the forest, and Elce was great - really patient, and obviously lots of experience. We met some really interesting people there, and our first night was Rob's birthday, so had a memorable jungle party, and the drinks were reasonably priced (considering everything has to be carried in!) - since all meals are included, so this is the only additional expense. Great location, and saw a cool snake curled up on the ferns right by the main hut. Amazing! Can't wait to go back... See more..
  5. 5.0 Atv Borneo Adventure (ranau) (2 reviews)
    - First time on ATV, won't be my last!
    Wednesday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent 2-3 hours Off-Road & ATV Trails
    Atv Borneo Adventure (ranau) image
We booked online via WhatsApp prior and respond was quick. We arrived 10 minutes early and they were preparing their ATVs. We, adults rode while the kids, pillion riders. The guide started off with some briefing and off we went with another guide. It was challenging at first, maneuvering and pressing the gear. However, after a while, I got the hang of it and began enjoying the ride. It wasn't raining and the morning scenery was great. We stopped by to climb the Sosodikon Hill and headed back to the store. Tip: Recommended to go the mornings (it was raining in the afternoon) See more..

  8. 4.5 Sosodikon Hill (34 reviews)
    - Fantastic !
    Spent 1-2 hours Mountains
    Sosodikon Hill image
Initially I thought… just another scenic view… similar to the many I witnessed at the Kundasang area but I was pleasantly surprised at THE view & experience here. It is located 10-15min drive from the war memorial/main shopping area of Kundasang & the access road can be quite rocky at parts. The viewing structure can be accessed by a 15-20min easy & scenic hike up a well maintained path dotted with delightful clusters of flowers and ornamental plants I think the magic of Sosodikon is the 360 degree view where the various sectors offer a different scene. See more..
  9. 4.5 Langanan Waterfall (12 reviews)
    - Hiking
    Waterfalls
    Langanan Waterfall image
It's about 3.5km-ish to the Waterfall, and other back. Trails are clear, took 2 hours to reach and 1.5 hours down.(with a 10kg pack on, non raining weather) To the Waterfall it's up up up. If it isn't raining, there aren't many leeches. But put on a pair of L.socks in case. It's a little slippery on the way down. So a trekking pole will help. You'll cross two small streams (bigger if it's raining). Some waterproof shoes will help (or a pair of dry ones waiting in the car on a rainy day). It's worth a visit, if you are in the area or passing by. If you have the time, the hot springs will be there waiting for you. Personally, it's more epic when it rains, the Waterfall is more intense. A little cold, so put on one more layer. Lastly, don't litter. There are some garbage at the end of the trail, bring in a bag to clean it up if you feel like it. Have fun See more..

We chanced upon this place and were wondering if it was worth a visit. We were so happy to find this picturesque place for photo taking and a restaurant that served scones with good Sabah tea. The restaurant served other food too, all cooked with Sabah tea. We bought back many packets of different types of tea leaves which were reasonably priced. :) See more..

Poring Hot Spring and Nature Reserve image
We visited on a weekday - a previous review says the tubs are empty. Yes, they were, but that is so as not to waste water. The taps (one hot spring water tap, one cold water) are there for you to fill at your leisure. We clambered up to the Canopy Walk - it's a bit of a hike, but well worth the effort! Also visited the serene and informative butterfly garden and information centre. My husband and I sat in the pool at the base of Kipungit Waterfall, while our daughters trekked off to see the bat cave. I was surprised by 'sucker' fish, nibbling at my toes - you know, the ones you pay for in the 'fish massage' places? And I got mine for free! There are also sites for a rafflesia garden (world' largest flower), and an orchid site. I think this place is underrated, and offers so much for someone who has a morning / day to spare See more..
