These guys really looked after us, we left our luggage in the van to go rafting and they dropped us at the airport afterwards on our last day in Sabah. If that's your plan you probably need to check first, they had some worries that we might not make our flight. We were at the airport checking in by 5pm, they estimated 5:30-6pm rarely 7pm. The train is very old, max speed 30kmph (from what we could make out) and at one point we wondered if we should get out and push, but it made it and wouldn't want to go any faster the scenery was fabulous! The rafting was awesome fun with excellent instructions and great banter. We booked online while they had a promotional T-shirt and mine says I survived grade 3-4 rapids so that's the story I'm telling home. This is the dry season so they we're not so scary but still a fun challenge and the best last day we could have hoped for. See more..

A visit to the Klias Wetlands, near Beaufort about 100kms south of Kota Kinabalu is the perfect choice for a day out in Sabah. You can see an abundance of mangrove trees are found in the Klias Wetland Peninsula. The mangrove and peat swamp forests of Klias Wetlands and the deep river that runs through it provide visitors numerous ‘Wow!’ moments as day turns to night. This wetland forest is enriched with vegetation and wildlife such as the Proboscis Monkey, Long Tail Macaques, Crocodile, Fireflies and many species of birds. Habitat to diverse range of birds, reptiles, mammals and insect. This forest reserve is also important to the ecology and wildlife of Sabah’s coastal areas. Monkey Tops Safari is located about 100 km south of Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia located on the majestic Borneo Island. It is accessible by highway and takes about 1 hour 30 minutes to get there. Usually you got to see many others wildlife in a mangrove cruise, this is a cruise to look for Proboscis monkeys only! The guide mentioned there are crocodiles, birds ...etc. However, I seen non of those but lucky enough to see few small groups of Proboscis monkeys (they are in families of 4 or 5, not a very big group though) there will be RM10 for binoculars to rent, I reckon you better rent one to see them clearer coz those monkeys not necessarily hangout out at the river side. You will also experience a nice sunset on the cruise and after the it is dark, it is time for the fireflies ... the trees at the riverbank literally became “Christmas Trees” much better then those I seen in Thailand, Ampawa Floating Market tour. Thank goodness that I had a good weather that day, if you meet rainy day, you might seen nothing. See more..
