Worth a visit!

Because of the lack of snow, ski resorts were slow to open. But we were glad we came here. The highlight was the four huge stage backdrops painted by Chagall for the ballet “Aleko”.

    Interesting collection
The museum is modern with a good collection of art by Yoshitomo Nara, and huge backdrops of the ballet Aleko by Chagall. Aomori-ken (Aomori Dog) is situated outside the museum building. Visitors can see it from inside the museum through the observation window, or take a path to see it up close. There is no fee to take the path so visitors can just come and see Aomori-ken if they wish to save a few bucks. There is also a nice coffee shop inside the museum. If coming from Aomori station, take the bus at bay no.6. Do check the bus schedule as the buses are hourly. I happened to miss the bus by a minute and ended up taking a cab (some 1,300 - 1,500 yen).
