    The day we drove it was unfortunately quite misty but occasionally we'd break out of the mist into photographic panoramas. There's an 800m long section where you can't stop your car due to the volcanic gases but the sight of the bizarre barely there vegetation in that section is something to behold. We went during autumn (late October) and got to see the full range of fall colours. There's a crater and lake and marshland trail at the top that unfortunately we had to pass on due to the weather but each looks like an easy short hike from the parking area. See more..
