This was a great free tower to go up. Awesome views and in walking distance of the port where we had pulled up on our cruise ship.See more..
4.0Abukumado Limestone Cave(123 reviews) - Total beauts Thursday: 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM Spent 1-2 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks • Lookouts • Caverns & Caves
Naturally formed beauty created over the course of 80 million years. Lining 600m of the cave is what is said to be the greatest number and variety of stalactites in Asia. There’s a lot to see in Takine Goten, the largest hall in the cave, including the Tsuki no Sekai, which features the first light control system for stage productions ever introduced in a Japanese limestone cave. Enjoy this mysterious and impressive underground fantasy world.See more..
4.5Oyasukyo Daifunto(87 reviews) - Nature at its best! Thursday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Lookouts
We visited Oyasukyo Daifunto in July 2016 when exploring the Yokote area with our two young sons (age nearly 2 & nearly 4). This is a spectacular slice of nature and was lovely when we went in Summer however I expect it would be even more glorious with the Autumn trees. It is Japan’s equivalent to Rotorua in New Zealand with its thermal activity. There is a 10 minute walk down to the ravine where you can then walk along the steaming river and waterfalls. Located just over an hour from Akita Station, there is plenty to do in the area including visiting lavender fields, traditional sweet shop, Kamakura-kan snow dome experience, manga museum and mato park. We will send all our visitors to check this place out and we will definitely visit again.See more..
4.5Kitayama Cape(87 reviews) - It's very far away, but it's worth a visit Lookouts
It's a 3-hour rental car ride from Morioka Station on the Tohoku Shinkansen. It's very far away, but it's worth a visit. I visit every year and it's interesting to see the different views depending on the weather. It is located in the Sanriku area, made famous by the Japanese TV drama "Ama-chan" that was broadcast in 2013 . I also recommend taking a ride on a cute local train from Sanriku Railway. There are several restaurants in the park where you can eat sea uni-don(urchin bowl) and ikura-don(salmon roe bowl). The food is far fresher and tastier than in Tokyo.See more..
