    - Beautiful autumn view and chrysanthemums fair

We were here on 2 November. We walked through the Hirosaki Park with many beautiful autumn foliage on our way to Hirosaki Castle. We were surprised at how small the castle was and initially thought it was a mock up. Parts of the castle was still under renovations. The view infront of the castle is beautiful facing the mountains and there were benches where we had our tea break. We went up the castle. The stairs were steep and narrow. Once on top of the castle, they display photos of all the castles in Japan. The view on top is nice. On the ground floor, there is a small souvenir shop. We also visited the botanical gardens when they were having a chrysanthemums fair. All the dolls were dressed up with chrysanthemums in very artistic way. It’s worth to get the package entrance tickets to both the castle and the botanical gardens. There are renovations around, otherwise the place will be more beautiful. Hirosaki is indeed an interesting city to visit. See more..

    - Nice park

I believed this park was located on the site of the old Sendai castle. The castle is no longer there but we do see some old remnants of the past castle. This park offered a panoramic view of the Sendai city. Within the park, there are many different historical structures but sadly, when we were there, there was some renovation work on the Date Masamune on a horse statue but they did put up a picture on site for tourists to take pictures. We parked our car right at the bottom of the hill and walked up. It was quite a climb and took us around 30 minutes but if did offer us great views along the way. See more..
  4. 4.0 Kajo Park (191 reviews)
    - Nice spot for illuminated sakura
    Parks
    Kajo Park image
We arrived quite late at Yamagata, but fortunately this park was illuminated during sakura season and location is within walking distance from Yamagata Station. It was our first sakura experience, since we missed it in Tokyo, and even in Sendai. But glad we made it to Yamagata, because here the hanami was less crowded than in capital. We went in from southern part of the park (near Kajo Central building) and found it to be less crowded. Walk through the path, and ended up in the main gate (Higashi Otemon, cmiiw). I'm not familiar with different types/colours of sakura, but the petals of sakura trees here were predominantly white with slight pink hue. The spacious hanami spot was somewhere around the main gate, nearby the neighbourhood road. But along the path within the park, there were some corners with bench where we can also relax while enjoying the sakura. See more..

I did a live-streamed tour with Yusuke from Heygo at this park today. We saw a great varieties of flowers such as the red quince flowers, fields of yellow rapeseed flowers, white magnolia bushes on the hill slope, yellow Forsythia flowers, pink peach flowers as well as cherry blossoms. The flowers are all blooming and creating a paradise here with all the colours. There are many trails to walk to admire the flowers. A visit here is highly recommended and Yusuke is a good guide who gave us many great postcard shots of the beautiful flowers in its natural surroundings. See more..

A great experience for the kids as this was the first time that they been to an apple farm. They witnessed for themselves how apple trees looked like. There were many different species of apples planted here. We had some afternoon tea at the restaurant located within the park as well. Their apple pastries were super delicious. Overall a wonderful experience for the entire family. See more..
  7. 4.5 Tenshochi Park (144 reviews)
    - Amazing cherry blossom viewing
Spent 2-3 hours Parks • Scenic Walking Areas
    Tenshochi Park image
Absolutely loved the viewing here! The two km walk is amazing. Basically a tunnel of cherry trees. Photos really don't do it justice. On the western end, there is a small patch of weeping cherry trees in a darker pink shade which made for a nice contrast over the "tunnel" of paler blossoms. Food stalls and some indoor places are located on the eastern end of the walk, where all the tour buses seem to drop people off. We walked from west to east, had lunch, then went up to the folklore museum / park. Then back down to catch the ferry across the river to our hotel. Was a great way to see this area. See more..
  8. 4.5 Michinoku Lakeside National Government Park (101 reviews)
    - Exceptional views

Michinoku Lakeside National Government Park image
I visited this park at the end of April when the flowers were at their full bloom. the view is really exceptional and amazing, I think this park deserves to be considered as one of the marvels of Miyagi prefecture. The park is quite big, in addition to the gardens, there is also the furusato village where there are houses built according to the old way and contain inside of them the tools that were used before, unfortunately most of the descriptions there are written only in Japanese. I recommend this place for everybody who likes to spend a day relaxing out of the city noise, also for those who can't drive a car, there are frequent buses that depart from Sendai station to the park. 12. 4.0 Tohoku Safari Park (46 reviews)
    - How dare they treat animals like this!
Thursday: Spent 2-3 hours Amusement & Theme Parks • Zoos
    Tohoku Safari Park image
This park is vile, I cannot believe they are aloud to keep animals like this. Poor elephants are tied up with chains and the lions are kept in tiny cages so that tourists can come and take pictures of them constantly. These animals are there to make someone money and that's all it is, the keepers don't care abut their welfare at all. I advise people not to go, if you do your just encouraging animal cruelty!
