Very pleasantly surprised by this park! Includes a couple of shrines, and the remnants of a former castle, which have been meticulously restored. Very relaxing to stroll around. Great views of a nearby mountain range. I was here a little too early for hanami (cherry blossom watching) but it would be beautiful at that time as well as in autumn when the leaves change colour. The entrance fee seemed a bit steep to be honest but it was worth it. The newer building houses various Homma Family treasures, which do need explanation, all signs in Japanese but they do have English pamphlets and you might find someone to explain. The villa and garden in various seasons never fails to delight. My son loves to run around the garden, escaping, climbing, taking different paths. I love the second floor hand thrown glass, it is slightly blurry. It is essentially a house but anyone who appreciated Japanese architecture will love it. YOu can also get green tea and sweets here and enjoy it sitting on very old cool furniture. I was lucky enough to see a play performed in the garden, while sitting inside with all the door open. It is a place to relax and contemplate in my opinion. See more..
