Better known as the First Minister's Temple (or even the Prime Minister's Temple), this ancient site is one of the top highlights of all Kaifeng. There are many temples and halls to see, with the golden budda's in the Arhat Hall and the stunning statue of Guayun being the highlights. At the back of the complex is a very tall pagoda, but that was closed off to visitors as of October 2017. RMB40 to visit but signs everywhere say "no photography". We headed to Dengfeng to train Kung Fu at Tagou at the Shaolin Temple. Our Taxi driver said Tagou was crap and we really wanted to go to Fawang. I am so glad we did. We trained at Fawang for a week and it was an amazing experience. We lived, ate, slept, and ached with the students at the temple. If you are going to Dengfeng to see real Kung Fu, go to Fawang. They do not put on a show if that is what you are thinking, they train 120 students daily. See more..

I was a bit uncertain about visiting here, as I had already visited the Yungang grottoes from Datong and had read that the Longman ones were damaged during the Cultural Revolution and weren't as good as the Yungang ones. Well, I have to disagree with this. Yes, many are damaged but there are some that aren't. The significance of the damage actually brings home some of the impact of the Cultural Revolution that gave me a deeper appreciation of it. In addition to being of a different style than those near Datong, I thought that some of the detail in the Longman carvings were greater. If you only want to see more intact statues, then Yungang would be better. If you only have time for one lot, then depending on your preferences you need to choose - I would have found it hard to choose. It is a day trip from Xi'an on a train (about 2 hrs each way). Sadly it took us a long time to get there, very long walk, but no tourists at all. In China, people tend to go were the crowd goes, and the crowd gathers at the Shaolin temple... So the place was a bit mystical, very quite, with encens, old statues and temples. And e very nice view on the mountains. Very well worth the walk up there if you start to get fed up with the crowd. There are at least 5 Mosques in the area covered by the address given. Even the Taxi driver laughed when I gave him the address and asked which do you mean. So we enjoyed a pleasant hour walking in a predominantly Muslim area seeking and eventually finding 3 of the 5. Each was different and the differences actually was the most interesting thing. From traditional Chinese styling, ( I have no idea how old), to circa 1970's green tiled facia with 2 charming and very helpful caretakers. I cannot give you any addresses as the search through a maze of back streets with helpful finger pointing in the right direction by locals did not include any obvious street signs. 很早就听老人们说白云寺是我们那儿真正的千年古刹，还拍过很多电影，过年的时候有幸去了一次，现在路很畅通，一条大路直接通景区门口，人很多，大部分都是当地人去烧香拜佛，寺庙里的古代建筑真的很有特色，竹林，塔林，还有挠痒痒树，在古代深山里建这么一个寺庙肯定有段神奇的背景故事。

淇县离我老家很近了，之前去过几次还好了，主要是以烧香拜佛为主的，四月份的时候有一个泼水节，关于这个泼水节我是看山上有这么写的实际上是没有参加过的，还有山上有几个很小的水上游乐园，个人比较喜欢的是门口山上留下来的山泉水，很绵很爽。离灵山不远的地方还有一个很不错的去处就是云梦山了，山上有一个战国古军校，鬼谷子的隐居地。鬼谷子是孙膑和庞涓的老师。还有很多战功赫赫的将军都是在这里培训过得。值得一去。。。。 See more..

The pagoda itself is about average, but my Very Good rating is based on a number of other attractions close to the pagoda, some of which are not listed yet on Trip Advisor. The pagoda was begun in the Tang Dynasty and rebuilt in 1177 during the Jin. Near the base of the pagoda is a group of petrified tree trunks. Nearby is a stone arch built in 1623 during the Ming, the Sino-Japanese Friendship Arboretum, ancient rammed-earth city wall, a temple, and the City Museum which so far is not listed on Trip Advisor. Not far away is a Warring States chariot burial tucked away in the midst of a residential neighborhood which almost no one knows about, and a few kilometers away is the world-class Guo State Tombs, Chariot Burial, and Museum. All these are photographed extensively and appear on my GaryLeeTodd.com website. There is also a swan lake nearby which, I believe, has been reviewed, and since I'm an expert on Chinese history and not waterfowl, I shall skip that attraction. The arch, museum, temple, wall, and peace garden are all a short walk from the pagoda and can all be easily viewed in a morning or afternoon. See more..

Visited in November, after National Day and Golden Week were well finished. Very quiet at that time, guessing it gets very busy at other times. Catch a bus to get there - it's a local bus which you can catch anywhere along the Fengxue Road. Can't remember the number, but ask at your hotel, they will probably be able to tell you. Hint - have some brochures, etc, of where you want to go, and have a few words written down in Chinese, such as "What bus?" "Can you write this in Chinese for me?" "Where do I go?". Will make your life MUCH easier, and the Chinese will smile. They like it when you make the effort. This is a big complex, with many paths and a lot to see. Take a pocketful of coins, each of the small temples has a monk (?) who stands expectantly with a striker next to a little bell - drop the coins in the prayer box, the bell is rung that many times. Easier to have the coins than look embarrassed about not wanting to put in your pocketful of 100 kwai notes! I carry a pocketful of 1 RMB notes and coins at all times in China - there are beggars, not as many as elsewhere, but they are there. Easier to have the small change to give - and it doesn't hurt your sense of well being to have been generous. Take the time to look, even on the walk to the temple. Don't rush it, there is a lot to see. When I was there there was a lot of work being done on the approaches - "streamlining" the river, I think! May be good, have to see. But access will be easier. 【门票】30元，有优惠政策（见图）。请讲解40元/次。门口停车收费。建议一定要请讲解，否则根本不知道看什么。
【石窟】非常非常棒！看过N次莫高窟，去了麦积山，后又去龙门石窟，只有巩义石窟可以近距离在窟里，不限时，随便看。游客又少，简直包场。
一共5个窟，可以入内的有两个，一尊尊细看，比地面雕莲到顶上的飞天，都好美。帝后礼佛图更号称孤品，保存非常完好，而且雕刻精美。
3窟内一组飞天更是精美绝伦，可惜被拓太多次了，希望以后能好好保护起来。 See more..
