Nothing really good or bad about this place. The mausoleum itself is simple and spacious. There's a temple inside. You need to buy the incense. After that, be careful, the merchant would try to sell you a lot of stuffs. She would said that these are for your family's wishes/ protection/ prosperity etc. Then in the end, it comes with a price tag. An expensive one. You need to take an electric car (separate fee) to the tomb itself. Well, just to the entrance actually. The walk/climb up to the tomb takes around 15 minutes. Along the way, you'll meet some persistent vendors of little stuffs. If you're not interested, just completely ignore them. The tomb itself is quite simple. Totally not extravagant as I had imagined.See more..
4.5Fuxi's Mausoleum(5 reviews) - Takes you back to the birth of Chinese civilisation Wednesday: 8:00 AM - 6:30 PM Cemeteries
I have visited this site twice, in May 2017 and yesterday in June 2018. For anyone interested in Chinese culture this is a key site. Fuxi is one of the early, semi-mythical emperors of China who is credited with bringing an institutionalised structure of marriage, family/tribal affiliation and early technology to China. The period is estimated to be about 2,600 BCE. From another perspective he is closely associated with the trigrams and the 'I Ching' - the book of songs' where the trigrams are the basis of Daoist cosmology and mathematical logic. The site covers 36 hectares and information is easily obtained by the use of QR codes and use of Google translation. There are a series of temples of varying antiquity and in two key ones can be found gold statues of Fuxi and his consort Wahuang. There a number of myths including a virgin birth of Fuxi and Wahuang being both wife and sister. I leave you to draw your own comparison! One very unusual feature are the gardens that, for a Chinese garden, is quite distinctive featuring topiary and various shapes of trees including the arch of two dragons playing with a ball. These gardens have many shady and cool spots to provide an escape from the summer sun. The temple is a site of pilgrimage associated with folk religious beliefs in ancestor worship and fertility, so it will get very crowded during Golden Week holidays and times of festivals. The site is also associated with Pingliangtai, which dates from the same period and is said to represent the physical home of Fuxi while the Mausoleum is the spiritual home. English speaking guides are available at the Mausoleum but you may need to book in advance. Mine was knowledgeable and had a good command os EnglishSee more..
4.5Mausoleum of King Lu(4 reviews) - A very quiet place, how it should be Wednesday: 8:00 AM - 6:30 PM Ancient Ruins • Cemeteries
If you go at a certain time during the year, ie. weekdays, when people have school, you don't see many people here. I went with my boyfriend and saw 3 persons in total. Amazing for taking pictures and experiencing culture. It makes me feel like that's how a grave should be, quiet and not packed with tourists. Very satisfied visit overall.See more..

We were visiting Qinyang on business from America when we had a morning free and this place was recommended to us. Zhu Zaiyu was a gifted mathematician, music theorist, astronomer, and more. This small museum, in the place where he worked, honors his life and work with wonderful displays that pay tribute to this fascinating man that almost no one in the West has heard of. There was however almost nothing in the museum in English. Since we didn't speak Chinese and they barely spoke English, it was difficult at first. We were quite grateful that they called a local English teacher who came in to do the translating. That brought the experience much more alive for us. Even with the language barrier, the staff was very friendly and went out of their way to help us as best they could. They even took lots of pictures of us since they don't get too many visitors from America!See more..
See more..
See more..
3.0Ouyang Xiu's Tomb(1 review) - Tomb of Ouyang Xiu Wednesday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Ancient Ruins • Cemeteries
Ouyang Xiu was a great scholar/official during the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1126). Eight Imperial tombs from this dynasty are in and around Gongyi, while this tomb is near Xinzheng in Henan Province. I've lived in Xinzheng for over 10 years, and had a hard time finding the place. It is in the neighborhood of Peiligang Village, the type site for the Neolithic Peiligang Culture. This is strictly for the serious historical enthusiast, as there is little to see besides a gate, several buildings where Ouyang Xiu is honored, a garden area, two burial mounds, and some stone tablets for family member burials. I did not see anyone on duty, but there was no one to stop me from going inside and looking around. It was all pleasant solitude inside. Local farmers were using the parking lot outside to dry grain. I suspect I was the first foreigner they had seen there. The tomb is in the country about a half hour from Xinzheng, but perhaps less if you don't get lost.See more..
