4.5Yalong Bay(1.644 reviews) - Nice and clean Wednesday: 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM Bodies of Water • Beaches • Beach & Pool Clubs
Yalong is supposed to be one of the best beaches on hainan and it truly meets expectation. Clean beach, walk into the ocean for miles without having to swim. The currents however can be quite strong from time to time. Offering jet ski service, banana boat etc. See more..
4.0Sanya Bay(476 reviews) - Wait for Calm Waters Wednesday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Bodies of Water
We had some really good sunny days in Sanya Bay. The water is quite warm and you can usually find a spot on the beach to put your stuff. The coconut corridor walk is nice and you can find quite a few prime eating spots and bars around Sanya Bay. To see a good view from up high go to Luhuitou Park or a rooftop bar in the area. Please note that the bay is not always safe to swim and you have to keep an eye on the flags. Best to see the bay when it is sunny and clear or during sunset.See more..
4.5Shimei Bay(34 reviews) - The water was clean, but beach is so so as there was so much trash on the beach after the Typhoon Wednesday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Bodies of Water • Beaches • Beach & Pool Clubs
We went there on the third afternoon after the Typhoon. It was very hot and of course, not so many Chinese tourists. Nice and clean water, but the beach was quite a disappointment as there was a lot of trash lying around. Generally, it was OK, not so good as the first time I went in 2008. We went there from Wanning city, which was not far from the bay. There is a direct bus from the new bus station in Wanning directly to the entrance of Le Meridien hotel. And about 300m's walk, you will see the vast ocean. If you are lucky enough, you will be able to jelly fish swimming in the shallow water. They are pretty, but don't touch them as you never know whether they have poison. They day we went this year, there were some young guys fishing on the huge rocks about 50m from the beach. The water was so shallow that you didn't even need to swim. Anyway, nice beach. Recommended.See more..

4.0Wanquanhe Drifting(16 reviews) - Not for oldies Wednesday: 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM Bodies of Water • Game & Entertainment Centers
Difficult to find, even with satnav. Getting into boats not to easy, you have to get down some not to safe looking steps then across the river, climb out again along a very rough path onto another boat, then the trip begins. There are two choices an easy trip or a hard one, we went on the hour long easy trip. Nice cruise down the river between 2 dams, very enjoyable, with a visit to a waterfall See more..

3.5Wanquan Lake(2 reviews) - Beautiful with potential Wednesday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM Bodies of Water
Beautiful area, though hard to find with poor access roads. On arrival at the lakeside there is little parking, not really a problem as there were no people. There is a small viewing area with some pleasure boats, which had definitely seen better days, but no crew or notices saying if and when the boats operated. There was no way of getting around the lake that we could find, no paths at all, not even rough paths. There were some good views back along the road woth taking photographs. Overall not worth the effortSee more..

2.0Mangrove Bay Wetland Experience(1 review) - Only if you're nearby Wednesday: 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM Bodies of Water • Nature & Wildlife Areas
Cost of entry is 40RMB. The wetland experience consists of a boardwalk through the wetland area. The park is said to be about 1.45 square km in size. There is a flamingo enclosure in the centre of the walkway. Also there are boats that can take you for a ride in the wetland (not operating when we arrived). Near the front entrance is a well presented Wetland Experience Museum (all in Chinese). Did not see any wildlife except some crabs. Ironically, despite the apparent important of the wetland it has been crowded out by massive development. Buildings (such as Hilton Doubletree) are seen in every direction when in the wetland. This is not a place to visit if you are looking for a experience in nature. Well presented but seems a bit tokenistic. We spent just over 30mins here. If visiting in the summer go in the late afternoon (closed 5.30pm).See more..

3.0Mulan Bay(1 review) - Off the beaten track Wednesday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Bodies of Water It's 70 miles form wenchang so we decide to get a taxi. Not much to see you catwalk down the old street to the harbour which is a thriving fishing harbour and very smelly. On the way you can stop for the chance to eat horse shoe crab. Horse shoe crabs are not crabs at all but a living fossil being one of the oldest life forms on this planet. The street must have looked great in its heyday but now is in pretty poor repair. I wonder whether they will repair it or will it be another case of rebuilding.See more..
