4.0Binglang Ethnic Village(309 reviews) - Informative museums and a great show Historic Sites
A very nice park to learn more about the Li culture (and a little bit about the Miao). I regretted that pricing was explained in Korean and Russian but not English, not customer friendly! Package 2 gets you entrance, show, and little carts (220 RMB, about $33). Besides this, we were lucky to find an English-speaking guide ($22). You don't have to take one but we wanted to avoid wasting time (without guide, count an hour more, and add more time if you don't take the carts but walk). The tiny Li museums are very informative. The weaving grandmothers were very skilled and cute. The show is about an hour and grandiose. For seats, avoid A and F if you can, D is in the center. Beyond row 3, it's harder to see since VIP are already on rows 1-3, you would be at row 4-6 to see well. Light information is provided in English there about each dance.See more..
4.0Sanya Li and Miao Village(204 reviews) - Should be on your top 10 list Wednesday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Historic Sites
I wasn't exactly sure what the Sanya Li and Miao Village was going to be all about, but it certainly ended up ranking top scores for me. Very interesting village. Lots of walking but plenty of place to purchase drinks etc. It can be a little tough if you don't read or speak Chinese like I don't, but found enough English to figure out what was going on. There is a short zip line I couldn't really sell anyone on, but for a first timer on a short line, it would be good. I was good with the whole place up until the very end, when I saw the show, WOW!!! FANTASTIC SHOW. The show is a 100% worth it. Great performances, always activity going on, good music, and dancing, funny as well. Go you won't be disappointed. p.s. look for the baby monkeys!!See more..
Until my visit, I hadn’t known that part of Dr. Sun Yat-sen's , Quangzhou’s favourite son, is likely due to his third wife, Soong Ching-ling (1893-1981) (aka, Madame Sun Yat-sen). She was born into a prominent Chinese family, and was partly educated in the USA. Under her English name, Rosamonde Chung-ling Soong. At the height of her political career, from 1959 to 1075, she was the 2nd Vice-Chairperson of the People's Republic of China. A few days before her death, at the age of 88, Soong Ching-ling was apponted Honorary Chairwoman of the People's Republic of China. I think it is not so much the ancestral home of itself which is significant, but rather is acts as a memorial to the significant contribution of Soong Ching-ling and her family to present day China.See more..
Serene place and the climb up the tower was well worth it. Take the elevator up then come down floor by floor, each one revealing its own treasures. On our visit at CNY a number of the floors were empty though with items shared across other locations. Still do not distract from the wonder of this place. See more..

4.0Ancestral Home of Song Qingling(4 reviews) - Understanding the history of this Soong Family Wednesday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM Historic Sites
A nice interesting place to visit where you see the life history of this family, how clever they were, their achievement and their success. Have many precious photos with both Chinese and English descriptions. In the garden, you'll see the grave where the mother was buried and different type of trees planted. Admission fee was RMB15 which I found reasonable. Years ago the admission fee was higher than this.See more..
5.0Wennan Old Street(2 reviews) - Great visuals Spent < 1 hour Historic Sites • Points of Interest & Landmarks • Scenic Walking Areas
Place exceeded expectations and have become a nice surprise, especially it’s located in relatively small, not tourist-beloved town. Not full building but only facades kept from beginning of last century, and these are really asking for some restoration work, but it gives a real history feeling. I was told street built by overseas returnees in early 1910-1920, haven’t done research on it though. Street is full of shops, which are rather daily shops then selling usual tourist crap, so you can feel it’s pretty local and part of real town life. See more..
5.0Yongqing Temple(1 review) - Temple and Beach Historic Sites • Religious Sites
This temple is about 40 minutes drive from Haikou city but well worth the visit. It is the largest Budhist temple in northern Hainan. It is situated right on the beach, so pack your swimming costume for a swim afterwards. There is a simple coffee shop and tea house at the beach end of the temple. There is no English signage in the temple but admission is free. There is a Wingate Hotel nearby for those that might like to stay, or perhaps have an evening buffet. The sunsets are spectacular at the beach. See more..
