A unique and interesting city!

Fascinating and attractive city which I covered comfortably in two days. The view from the top of the cable car is wonderful and the city walls well worth walking around (2 kilometres) although in one part did get a bit of vertigo! The city is not cheap though - cable car costs 200 kn (approx £22) and visiting the City Walls 250 kn (approx £28). Good choice of restaurants but those inside the city walls are expensive. Recommend to visit if possible when there are not many cruise ships in town as the city can get super super busy especially in the mornings with so many group tours.

Busy & expensive historic old city
Walking through the gated entrances into the old inner walled city you really feel like you've walked back hundreds of years. Outside it's busy and noisy with tourists and heavy traffic. Inside the main central street leads into a series of narrow side streets. Lots of cafes, bars, restaurants in these side streets avoiding the higher priced ones on main route. Easy to walk around find the main tourist sites and the old harbour. Even in late September it was very, very busy. The only shops we saw were tourist / souvenir shops in centre. We've never seen Game of Thrones so the large number of tourists shops and other tours linked to it does give a negative 'Disney' feel. Dubrovnik has more to offer surely?? We'd bought a 3 day Dubrovnik Pass to give us reduced entrance onto the city walls walk and The Rector's House. We also bought our ferry tickets from the official ticket office in the old harbour to go to the island of Lokrum - a 20% discount if you have the Dubrovnik Pass too. We found most restaurants expensive compared to other European cities and not a great food selection either - most menus offer very similar food.

Worth a wander but can be crowded.
Free to enter and a maze of small cobbled streets in which you can roam and imagine what life was like hundreds of tears ago. Be warned it is a very popular tourist destination so gets packed in the day. Add the summer weather and it can easily get stressful with young children and elderly parents. Recommend bringing g a hat, sun screen and lots of water. There are public fountains where you can fill up bottles but buying water in the city is eye watering expensive.
