Better Option Than Old Town

Located on a peninsula, this residential neighborhood is a short bus or ferry ride away from Dubrovnik's Old Town and the surrounding islands. There are many pebble beaches for swimming and water sports along the coastline, some offering paid facilities while others can be accessed for free. Velika and Mala Petka Forest Park in the south offer lush greenery with hiking trails and coastal viewpoints. Consider staying in Lapad as a cheaper, quieter, and greener option over the busier Old Town. The buildings here are modern, and most lodging is situated around Lapad Bay and Babin Kuk. – Tripadvisor

    Quiet neighborhood
Sitting in the evening on my balcony overlooking the whole area I feel serene calm. There is no music blasting or people shouting though most residents rent rooms during the season. Be prepared to walk stairs if your accomodation is high on the hill with best views, mine was on the height of thirteenth floor counting from street level. Lapad has a small shopping center complex with Tommy supermarket, Droxi drugstore, money exchange, bakery and several restaurants. The bus no 6 takes you to Old Town in ten minutes and costs 15 kuna if you buy the ticket on board.

Tasty traditional Croatian, just a bit cold
The food was tasty, particularly the blackened seafood risotto. The huge grilled fish platter for 2 was good, with plenty of different varieties, but arrived fairly cold, particularly the side dishes, chard with potatoes. The restaurant is know of it's open grill, but the fish could have been pan fried - I couldn't taste the difference, as it wasn't particularly smokey or crispy. The burger is not a traditional burger, but a very large flat patty without buns. Overall an OK experience, but we've subsequently eaten a lot better in Dubrovnik, as it's really a paradise for foodies, particularly in Old Town.
