  1. 5.0 Rynok Square (1.772 reviews)
    - A Square within a Square
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Rynok Square image
When you think of a square, it is usually an open space. In this case, the City Hall Building is the "solid inside square" surrounded by sculptures, cafes, restaurants and shops. No matter the time of day, be it day or night, the area was very active in the month of June. A small train tour departs from the City Hall entrance. The 4 main statues were adorned with different local soccer team jerseys. On Friday and Saturday evening, small groups of musicians and performers competed with each other for attention. See more..
  2. 5.0 Old Town (1.474 reviews)
    - Like so many famous European cities but somehow unique.
    Neighborhoods
    Old Town image
I spent three weeks in Lviv, during the Russian invasion, and absolutely fell for the city. The Old Town is, as the title suggests, is reminiscent of Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels, but also manages to not be like any of them, having it’s own unique charm. The cobbled streets hide a multitude of great restaurants. As I spent so much time here, eating out every night, I can safely say that I didn’t have a bad meal. On top of that, compared to London, the prices are insanely cheap. Obviously, spending time here during a time of conflict didn’t exactly give me the normal view of the city, but I decided very quickly that as soon as the conflict was over, I’d be returning with my family for a holiday. Something like 350 steps (not including the walk to the 4th floor where the entrance to the tower is) on a sometimes narrow wooden staircase. Great views of Lviv once you get to the top, though kids may have a hard time seeing over the top of the wall. Beware the bell chiming every quarter hour, but be sure not to miss the view of the clock workings on the way up/down. 50 uah, seems open every day. I imagine it can get busy, even on a Sunday morning there was a school group. See more..

We’ve booked tickets online in advance before traveling to Lviv but you can also buy from the ticket office in the building. First of all comparing to other performance halls in Europe and US the ticket prices are sooo affordable and this is very good. Apart from that we beauty of the building, the architecture and the engravings are just MAGNIFICENT! You must see a show or a ballet or opera minimum once. There is a cloakroom and you can enjoy a glass of Prosecco and some treats before or during the break. Definitely recommended! See more..

Among many impressive churches of Lviv this one deserves a special place. I was here for a second time on Armenian Christmas Eve and Christmas and attended their liturgy. This palace is a gem in the center of the city of Lviv. Among the modern buildings it is an amazing aesthetic antithesis that takes your breath away. The palace was build by the Potocki’s a Polish aristocratic family. The style of the palace is a combination of French style and Polish architecture. I highly recommend a visit, the interior is filled with all kind of art (paintings, sculpture etc.) I especially loved the wood sculpture furniture's since I am doing a little bit of wood sculpting myself. Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Prospekt Svobody image
I had the good luck of visiting ;Lviv, when the weather was fine and sunny, which helped of course to make this interesting and beauty avenue to impress even more. In the center of it one finds the statue of the poet Taras Shevchenko. At one side Prospekt Svobody is bordered by the old center of town with an impressive backdrop of historical buildings. It was quite lively, but not too crowded, with people strolling around or sitting on the benches. During my stay I also took the opportunity simply to sit there and relax, enjoying the surroundings. 28. 4.5 Prison on Lontskogo, National Museum and Memorial to the Victims of Occupation (98 reviews)
    - A 'Must See ' experience
    Saturday: History Museums
Prison on Lontskogo, National Museum and Memorial to the Victims of Occupation image
I'd read about this prison is numerous books about WWII and it's role during Barbarossa in June 1941 and prior and since under the KBG. It's a useful reminder of the brutality of totalitarian regimes. It's a rate opportunity to see a Soviet era prison, and one in its original state. It's not so difficult to imagine what it must have been like to have been incarcerated there. Those visitors brought up in the West, with democratic institutions and in peace, are lucky not to either have experienced the threat of being locked up in such a place - or the actuality- or worse. Every visitor to Lviv should visit this museum. The information in English is sparse but there's plenty available online. See more..

    Art Museums
Johann Georg Pinzel museum of Lviv Sacral Baroque Sculpture image
If you have been to Lviv and haven't visited Pinzel Museum it would be real epic fale. It's like being in Paris and not seing Louvre museum. The wooden sculptures of Master Pinzel are so strange and so beautifel in the same time so everyone who sees them are astonished and amazed. Take into account that museum can be closed earlier than it has to, don't go before very closing. See more..
