此行嘉義，回程時經三義下交流道加油，GPS顯示「火炎山登山口」就在附近，回走至一高的高架橋下，在「尖豐路」顯示目的地已達，停車後經一番辨識，因非熱門的上下山時間，無人潮行跡可循，一時沒看到登山口在哪裡，由橋下有流動式廁所，及很多車輛停放，研判GPS的指示應該沒錯，再仔細看，一隅寫有「火炎山登山入口」，正有山友下山，原來登山口就在路旁！

每次走國道一號，看到火炎山黃紅土崩塌地形的鮮明地標，就知道已經到了苗栗，雖然覺得此行一早在嘉義爬「獨立山」，已經把當天爬山的Quota給用完了，但難得找到了「火炎山登山口」，心想就爬到第一個展望點即折返！

因鋒面過境即將變天，天氣由大晴轉多雲，開車北上一路即風雲變幻，多有壯觀，令人看了怡然氣爽，緩步上山走約500 公尺，至火炎山第一個有展望的地方，眺望高速公路車流南來北往，遠山、綠地、樓房及變幻風雲，多有美感，不覺駐足良久！

風景雖美，但路旁即是崩塌地，危險處多綁有警示繩帶，提醒山友須謹慎留心，避免因拍照取景一時不查，樂極生悲！正是～

Nice, chilled out area with lovely views and several tasty food stands. If you are on a limited time tour of Taiwan then there isn't really enough to do here to warrant visit, but if, like me, you have loads of time on your hands then take the drive up here and enjoy. I had my dog with me and it should be noted there are lots of strays living in the area. That said, they were generally responsive to my calls to stay away (my poodle bottled it a bit though and I had to carry her). There are two sections. The high point next to the road that contains the car park and food stands. This area has extensive views of the area. The second area can be reached by walking through the park and is basically the top of the dam where on one side there is the relative calm of the reservoir and on the other the thunderous noise of the water tumbling down from the other side of the dam. Like I said, I wouldn't venture here if your time is limited, but for those with a bit of time and their own transport then come up here for a couple of hours. See more..

Heard about this place for a while, but never came here. With my US friends, we got here after our lunch around 2 pm. Surprisingly, very few people on Saturday afternoon, so the walk was even better with the changing color and the old folk train song. The railroad was converted to a concrete walkway with water on both sides plus breeze flowing. It’s quite relaxed and somewhat zenith to meditate my soul and refresh my spirit. Taiwanese people like to preserve old railway stations. Shengang station is also the case. Unfortunately there is no public transportation to reach there, and so I walked from TRA Sanyi station. It took me about one hour, less than I had thought. To my surprise, the station was crowded with tourists. If so many people had used this station before, it couldn’t have been abolished. Research and saw some TW ppl talking abt this place hence decide to give this place a visit since we were in miaoli. The route up was winding mountains n hills, and what a surprise when we got there; there were soo many cars parking along the road side! We quickly found a place to park n start walking too. To get to the Fairy valley aka 神仙谷, you need to walk down a long path. Finally reach the Fairy Valley, you will see this small little waterfall , not very big.... but as u walk on you will see the Hanging Bridge. Now that's to me is the attraction. U can walk thur the long hanging bridge too! there's actually a signage that states no more than 12 pax on the bridge....but apparently everyone is on the bridge... We took a walk to the end of the bridge , found more route up the opposite side of the mountain. But we didnt venture further as the further we walk in, the further we need to walk out n back to our car. See more..

Came prepared with a cap and a bottle of water in this Summer hot weather, however we're rewarded with great beautiful sunset scenery, street musician basking, hawkers selling fresh coconut water, ice cream topped with peanuts. Very close to the Miaoli train station. The maioli station is about 90 mins tour from the Taipei train station by train. Many historical locomotives were preserved in the museum, including Alishan Mountain climbing steam locomotives SL28 locomotive, 11403-1 locomotive, and 11403-5 locomotive. The museum is very close to the rail, and kids may see both the historical locomotives and new trains. OH my! I smiled the whole time I was here. OFF THE BEATEN PATH but I got a taxi to take me to the industrial park where this soda pop factory operates. There were no English speakers - but that didn't stop the Magician of a (manager? owner?) taking me around and teaching me all the things. I made a bottle of soda! I played on some of the marble "games." He did some magic tricks for me. I put my head in one of those Photo OP boards. AND I squished a penny. I only spent about 30 minutes but I can see that if you had kids with you or if htey were super busy you would need more time. This was totally worth my trip! See more..
