3 Star Places To Visit in Southwest Finland, Finland (17)
- 3.0 Finnlines Cruises (63 reviews)
-Malmö-Travemünde-Malmö overnight ferry, very convenient ferry that saves a lot of effort
Boat Tours
We used this ferry (overnight on both directions) on our trip to Holland. It starts at 10.00 pm and takes you to the other end at around 8 am the next day. Saves plenty of driving effort and the cost difference is not much (as with this ferry you can avoid the bridge toll / short ferry costs). We had the outside cabin for 4 persons and it was clean, had a large window and comfortable beds. We slept well! Just don't mistake this with a luxury cruise. There is a cafe/bar (on the cheaper side), a restaurant with dinner buffet (and also breakfast, I think), a child play area, a tiny duty free shop and fitness center / sauna. That's all. We will use this ferry service again! See more..
- 3.5 Kuusisto Bishop's Castle (22 reviews)
-Hidden gem
Spent 1-2 hours Ancient Ruins • Castles
I have passed the sign many times. This castle is 11 km away from the motorway. The parking lot is 1 km away from the ruins. You can get an impression of the bishops castle seeing the ruins and reading the information tables. There is also a walking path from the parking lot to the castle. Best time to visit is during the summer, when the manor is also open. See more..
- 3.5 Kakola (15 reviews)
-Feeling of luxury (if you skip the breakfast)
Points of Interest & Landmarks • Architectural Buildings
Feeling of luxury….in a prison! Very nicely decorated and remodeled hotel. Our hotel room seemed to consist of three original cells. We loved the big and comfy bed, luxurious bath, big tv, small balcony and usb ports above the bed. Additional mirror in the room would have been nice. I also missed an outlet for my flatiron in the bath. Excellent service. Only big minus was the breakfast—unacceptable! Ham tasted like cling wrap, salmon did not get refilled, bacon was cold, karelia pies were hard as rock, juice was bitter and cappuccino was even more bitter. Wine bar seemed very cozy but did not have the time to enjoy it. See more..
- 3.5 Kuusisto Manor (6 reviews)
-Gorgeous Manor set in rural seaside landscape
Spent < 1 hour Historic Sites • Architectural Buildings
Beautiful, historic, 300 years old wooden manor, set in idyllic, rural seaside landscape, surrounded by apple orchards, farm fields and forest. Easy drive from Turku. Lovingly restored rooms turned gallery/art spaces, with lots of natural light and lovely views to the outside. Interesting and diverse art exhibit. Gorgeous antique tile stoves in every room. Small cafe in manor kitchen, serving delicious tea and coffee and a small selection of home baked treats. The day we were there they had sweet little traditional Finnish spoonbread cookies, baked and served by the artist/curator. Easy walk to nearby castle ruins, perfect outing on a mild, sunny autumn day. Short walk on country road to manor from parking area. Nature walk with some environmental sculptures. See more..

-Worth visiting during the summer
Sunday: 11:00 AM - 6:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Historic Sites • Monuments & Statues

- 3.5 Korpo Weather Radar (5 reviews)
-Great views across Korpo!
Points of Interest & Landmarks
Korpo Weather Radar is a working C-Band Doppler radar, one of only 7 such weather radars in Finland. It has been operating since 1997. It measures the weather coming in from the Baltic and the Bothnian sea and reports back to the Finnish meteorology institute (ilmatieteenlaitos). The weather radar is open in the summer time to tourists. It costs a couple euros to go up the tower which you buy from the gift shop/cafe at the bottom. It is set on the highest point on the island of Korpo at 61 metres above sea level and the tower itself is almost 30 metres high. Once you climb the tower, the views are spectacular. It is not for people with Vertigo however as the platform you stand on at the top is see-through! See more..
- 3.5 Friends Pub (3 reviews)
-Nice pub
Sunday: 6:00 PM - 2:00 AM Spent 1-2 hours Bars & Clubs
This is a pub as it should be. Wooden interior, rock music, Murphy's on tap, empty bottles on shelves and your friend bartender. I feel here comfortable and relaxed. It's hard to find such another place in Jstadt. For years it is of the same quality, that's nice. My regards to Jirkki and partner. )) See more..

- 3.0 Melody Nightclub (2 reviews)

- 3.0 Uusikaupunki Church (2 reviews)
-A small, nice church at the city centre
Churches & Cathedrals
The Uusikaupunki church represents a typical Finnish, gothic-inspired church architecture of the time. The church is on a hill overlooking the market square and surrounded by a small, green park. You will see the church, and particularly the spire, from a distance. The spire was build so tall, that it would be seen already from the sea. If you have the time, walk up to the church and also take a look inside. See more..
- 3.0 Kirkonsalmen Silta (2 reviews)
-The bridge of Kirkonsalmi Merimasku
Bridges
It was not until the 20th century that the inlet was possible to be crossed with a bridge. Previously the inlet had to be crossed with a ferry. Over the almost 300 m meter long bridge leads a walking path from which is able to see the view along the inlet. See more..
- 3.0 Ulvova Mylly Oy (1 review)
-Riihikosken Vanha Vehnämylly
Antique Shops • Flea & Street Markets
Lehdessä olleen jutun innoittamina lähdimme käymään tässä Riihikosken Vanhassa Vehnämyllyssä. Puurakenteinen vanha mylly on toiminut muutaman vuoden eräänlaisena museo-kirpputorina. Paikka on täynnä (kolmessa kerroksessa) vanhaa tavaraa ja niiden painotus on 60-luvulla. Eli kaikille 60-luvun eläneille käynti täällä on nostalgiamatka lapsuuteen.
HUOM! Kohde on auki ainoastaan kesäaikaan eli syksyllä/talvella/keväällä tänne ei kannata poiketa! See more..
