Only Helsinki and Rauma had libraries before Turku. Turku Main Library consists of two buildings. The Dutch late Renaissance-style building was constructed in 1903. It resembles the House of Nobility in Stockholm. The interior is stunning. Next to the old one, a new library building was completed in 2007. The main material here was concrete and the building received the 2007 Concrete Construction Award. The two buildings are connected by a corridor that runs through the News Market where people can read newspapers. You can visit Café Sirius located in the former governor's office building. - Modern, comfortable library with good parking

Being from Naantali, I use to come here for my studies as well as reading and borrowing books. This place has much better premises for studying than the Naantali library, specially now when Naantali library is under renovation. The Turku area library coalition, Vaski is superb and also works here so you can borrow or return any book of many libraries here. See more..
