If you love travelling with bike, if you love nature, sea and seeing new places this is the thing you should do. Take your time to plan the trip carefully and check the schedules of the ferries in advance. You can go short trip for about 120 km or long trip of about 200 km or some variation of these. We have done long and short with our full suspension mtb’s and it has been a lot of fun. Book a airbnb on the way and spend some nice time in for example in island Nagu and all it’s restaurants. 2. 4.0 Marttila Wilderness Trails (1 review)
    - Lesser-known nature destination with great variety and sights
Spent More than 3 hours Hiking Trails
We visited Marttila wilderness trails in June with a group of friends. There are basically two main departure points for the trails; Palainen and Huhtaanmäki. We chose to park the car at Palainen, since there is a nice beach and we thought swimming after hiking might be fun. The trail from Palainen is a minimum of 7,5 kilometers long. It doesn’t really matter which direction you walk this circle trail, me and my three friends chose to walk it anticlockwise and went to Juomakivi first. The boulders Juomakivi and Isonkarhunkivi were massive. We also liked the views from Mopokallio to Juomakivenrahka bog. Lotikonkellari is the most famous place at Marttila wilderness trails. Lotikonkellari is not only a lean-to shelter but a long and narrow gorge with a small cave on one end. From Lotikonkellari the trail continued back to the parking lot but there was still a lot to see. In one area marsh Labrador tea was growing high on the ground like a jungle. In another part hare’s tail cottongrass formed a field around the duckboards. The next section was covered by fern. It was like going through a house with theme rooms following one another. Great variety in the landscape and lots of photo opportunities along the way. The duckboards and bridges were old but still in reasonable condition. The markings for the trails could have been much better - thus deducting one point from the otherwise perfect score. See more..
