Luostarinmäki is the only continuous district of wooden houses that survived the fire of 1827 in Turku. These houses are over 200 years old and still standing in their original building sites. The houses have been furnished as craftsmen’s homes and workshops, representing over 30 different trades. The museum tells the story of pre-industrial urban craftsmanship. In the summertime craftsmen come to work in the workshops. The museum is open during summer from May to August, and for the Christmas Season in December.See more..

4.0Rosala Viking Centre(43 reviews) - A brief look at Viking history Temporarily closed - Closed until Apr 7, 2023 Speciality Museums
This was part of a package trip for us that included visits to Rosala and Bengtskar. The Viking Center portion included access to the various displays and exhibits on the premises, a 7 minute video (available in English) on the Viking religion and lunch in a Viking-like hall. The lunch that was included was a local recipe (not viking-related) and very good. It was set in a dining hall that tries to simulate the viking look and feel. There were other drinks (bottled beer and locally brewed beer) and snacks that were also available for sale. The other exhibits were interesting, the most fun being the one where you can try on the equipment. Others were static exhibits with some simple information. The 1.5 hours we spent was enough to cover everything including lunch.See more..

4.5Louhisaari Manor(30 reviews) - Very pleasant Spent 1-2 hours Speciality Museums • Points of Interest & Landmarks
After belonging to the Fleming family since the 15th century, Louhisaari was in 1795 bought by the Mannerheim family, which owned it until 1903. The Marshal of Finland C. G. E. Mannerheim was born at Louhisaari in 1867. The main building dates from 1655 and is one of the rare examples of palatial architecture in Finland. The festive floor and the service floor are in 17th-century style and furnished to match. The middle floor, where the actual living quarters were, was modernised during the 18th and 19th centuries, and the rooms in this part of the castle reflect the interior-decoration styles of that time. The castle is surrounded by an English landscape park. The main building of Louhisaari Manor was opened to public on 1st of June 1967. Louhisaari Manor is located on the southwest coast of Finland 30 km North of Turku. Louhisaari is now closed but we are open again from May 15th 2016.See more..

This place is well known in Uusikaupunki so it was worth a visit to see it - also it is located next to the large Valmet Automotive car factory. The collections include various old cars, some concept cars and lots of Saabs. It is nice to wander around and see social history through cars. I would recommend a visit for an hour or two. Sadly the museum does not accept card payments, so bring cash with you for the entrance fee.See more..

The downstairs of the house is the presentation of the history of the house and how the wealthy family used to live. The rooms are well presented and there are good explanations of each room. There are also some photo board displays of old buildings in Uusikaupunki which were demolished and replaced with ugly modern blocks, well worth a look! Upstairs is dedicated to the maritime history of Uusikaupunki with lots of photos, exhibits, pictures of ships and other such usual things. The inside yard contains some outbuildings, including a shoe maker's workshop. The yard is a nice place to sit and have a coffee or picnic. I'd highly recommend a visit to this museum!See more..
4.5Salon elektroniikkamuseo(3 reviews) - Nostalgia trip to the past Saturday: 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Speciality Museums • History Museums
This museum is located 1 km from the city center in Astrum Center which is an old Salora factory building. Salora has a very important part of Salo and Finnish industrial history. It manufactured radios, televisions and other electronic devices 1928–1993. After Salora ceased its operation, another Finnish technology pioneer, Nokia Corporation, moved to the premises. The museum exhibition presents hundreds of old radios, TVs, monitors, mobiles and other electronics made in Salo. I always remember the year 1972, when I was eight years old and we got our first color TV for the Münich Summer Olympics. It was a Salora television.See more..

Vanhalinna is located at the foot of the ancient Linnavuori hillfort, in the cultural landscape of the Aurajoki Valley, just a 10-minute drive from the Turku city centre. Positively immersed in culture and history, the idyllic manor estate milieu of Vanhalinna is an ideal destination for a day trip as well as a perfect venue for banquets and conferences the whole year round. The legacy of Mauno and Ester Wanhalinna is preserved in the main building's manor museum, whose treasures are Phoenix furnishings from the University of Turku. The articles on display are primarily post-war furnishings and artefacts. An archaeological exhibit offer a thematic presentation of prehistory in Vanhalinna. Vanhalinna's ethnographic exhibits tell about rural life in the 1800s. The exhibition examines the arc of a human life, everyday routines and celebrations as well as church doctrines and folk beliefs. Every year, Vanhalinna hosts 2–4 temporary exhibitions.See more..
5.0Casa Haartman(1 review) - How an artist does interior decoration Spent < 1 hour Speciality Museums • History Museums
Casa Haartman is the home museum of the artist Axel Haartman and his wife Hedvig. The house is from 1920's, designed by Erik Bryggman, an architect much appreciated in Finland and known abroad especially for his Recurrection Chapel (in Turku). This house was the Haartman family home for nearly 40 years, and Axel also had his atelier there. This is a charming place to visit, since the home is pretty much intact and lets the visitor get a genuine glimse into the everyday family life and circumstances of two cultural and cultivated persons.See more..
