-A boat ride to Paradise!!
Beaches
Absolutely breathtaking water !! Such fun to take a boat ride with your own group and get dropped off about 15 to 20 minutes later at a beautiful white sand beach! Be sure to bring food and drink!! There are a few trees for shade but bring an umbrella if you need shade as there aren't many trees. We 4 were the ONLY people out there. Just us, the beach, the crystal clear blue water and tiny fishes that nibble your feet haha. I mean literally dropped off in paradise and no one else around. It was surreal. The water was calm and the beauty takes your breath away. so relaxing!! I went a second time a year later and there was a storm way out in the distance which brought in some nice waves for body surfing. You tell the guys how long you want to stay there and they will come back for you. the boat ride in itself is a blast!! When you get back to where you boarded the boat there is a nice restaurant on the waters edge. Fantastic meals at a good price ! Im headed back next month !! See more..
- 5.0 Buceo Pedernales (6 reviews)
-Great diving, amazing owners, paradisiac place
Scuba & Snorkelling
Simply amazing diving operation. Valentina and Miguel offer several good dives, explain the sites, know them, and take extremely good care of the marine life. I felt very safe, with them always on my side (i am a 6 dives diver, a beginner). And they are amazing people! Wonderful experience with them! The diving sites are immaculate, as bahia de las aguillas is a national park. And the beach itself is simply paradise. If you go to Pedernales area, i would strongly recommend diving with them. Bodies of Water
Although the area is a less modern part of the country, this is truly a gem! I didn’t even get any allergies as is always the case when I visit the island. See more..

- 4.5 Laguna de Oviedo (61 reviews)
-Incredible highlight, do not miss!
Spent More than 3 hours Bodies of Water
Awesome visit. The entrance is on the left about 30mins drive South of Paraiso. There are bathrooms at the visitor centre. It cost me US$100 for a 2.5hr trip inc. boat, boatman and guide. Saw much of the lagoon stopping to spot Duck, Heron, Egret, Gulls, Flamingo and others. Visited one island to see the Rhinoceros Iguana and another to see cave-art, both fascinating. Afterwards paid another US$10 to go swimming at natural mangrove pool. Unfortunately it's unmarked on Rt44 (the locals know it well). Anyway it's maybe 4km north of the park entrance, a rough but passible unpaved track to the right. No fee so I marked it on my SatNav and visited again later - sparkling clear water. Highly recommended trip See more..
- 4.5 Sierra de Bahoruco National Park (11 reviews)
-Not what you expect in Rep.Dom.
National Parks
When you drive to Pedernales, you see the Sierra de Bahoruco at your right hand side. Turn right before entering Pedernales. Our goal was to visit Hoyo de Pelempito. At the entrance of the National Park we talked to the park rangers. They showed us a colorful bauxite mine just before the entrance at your left hand side. From the park entrance to Hoyo de Pelempito it's quite a distance. Especially the last 7 km are difficult. You don't necessarily need a 4WD, but a SUV is highly recommended. The landscapes remind me of the Mediterranean or the Spanish interior: a fresh breeze, rather dry, pine trees... Going down again you have nice views over the coastline, with Bahia de las Aguilas in the distance. See more..

One of my favorite stops on the way to bahia de las aguilas. These machines are amazing and a bit intimidating when you see them up Close. Another good thing is that’s its free. See more..
