We have been in Jarabacoa many times, but never did the Rafting. We found Rancho Jarabacoa in the internet. We drove from Santo Domingo, 2 hours. Arrived on time to strech an relax before the adventure started. The Rancho is very nice place close to the river. Kids can play. Also dominoes, ping pong, billiardnd, foosbal. The guides explain everything on details. After that they put you an a truck a take a 25 minutes drive to the lauch area. After that more explanations are done and. The experience begins. The trip is great. No problems. After more than an hour and a half and many rapids you are taken back to the ranch where a dominican food buffet is waiting for you. After that you can buy a dvd with pictures of the rafting. Will go back, really recomend. 5 star service!!!!! See more..

One needs a 4 wheel vehicle, as the road to the waterfalls is 15km long. This water fall is in a national park, with very few visitors. The trip is very scenic. Only a 5 min walk from road. Try to arrive by 12 noon on a sunny day because the water is freezing, mid to low 50's and the lower falls and swimming pool is in a canyon with sun from 10am to 3 pm. Plan to bring drinks and food. There is a bathrooms but it was filthy, bring your own toilet paper and carry out your trash. See more..

Spirit Mountain's Ecological Reserve and Organic Coffee Plantation is nestled high in the foot hills of the Cordillera Central Mountain Range. The Farm is located at at the far reaches of Angostura de Manabao, approximately 15 miles from Jarabacoa, 3 miles beyond Manabao. This is rugged land and unpaved roads, so if your not up for an adventure, you may not want to venture this far into the mountains of Hispaniola. We are an operating Coffee Plantation...not a tourist attraction. During a visit, you are likely to see typical operations related to producing some of the worlds best coffees. Harvesting season is from January through April, if you would like to try your hand at picking coffee. Learn about sustainable organic farming first hand, see the rarest endemic birds of Hispaniola or just kickback up at our rustic camp site, Camp Spirit Discovery. During the off season, our crews will be planting coffee, taking care of the shade canopy and performing general farm maintenance. We cater to those interested in more than just a vacation. The farm is open all day every day for self guided yours. The farm is on google maps, and you can check in with Rosa, the plantation manager's wife. Their house is directly in front of the farm on the right hand side of the road, about 100 meters from the farm entrance. if you let Rosa know a couple of hours in advance, she will prepare you a typical lunch, with some of our fresh roasted coffee! It is easy to spend an entire day trekking around the farm and only experience a small portion of what there is to see. Be prepared for a challenging drive up to the farm. Recent improvements to the 700 meter long access road makes the property "almost" 2 wheel drive accessible. Who would have thought it could get so cold in the Tropics? A great change of pace from the usual tropical beaches and hot weather found in the Dominican Republic. Well maintained roads (although a little bumpy) will take you all the way through scenic mountains and deep valleys. When you approach the top you'll notice a sudden drop in temperature. We decided to camp out in one of the parks they have available at the top, it was very safe and there were a lot of families around. The purpose of our trip was to capture photos and videos of the area and to get some shots of the Milky Way, as it's some of the best stargazing in the Dominican Republic.
