   Second visit, hit jackpot twice! Steady wind, flat waters, and no rain on the Beach. Absolutely amazing spot to be, it is primitive, but don’t let it fool you, twice was there met a lot of great people from all over the world. First time planned to stay for 3-4 days and move to Cabarete, end up staying the whole week without regret. It is the place when time slowdown and you are disconnected with full tranquility joy.    I have been on several tours with Soraya and Santos and highly recommend them. First of all, unlike many of the businesses in the tourist realm of the DR, this business is founded, owned and managed by a very endearing Dominican family. Santos has lived his entire life in Monte Cristi and has an unmatched knowledge of the waters and landscape surrounding Monte Cristi, and all the ecological diversity they have to offer. Tours are quite affordable, well-organized and safe with life jackets provided to all. Lunch can be included and trust me, it is well worth it to taste Soraya's cooking! I recommend the yuca balls! I loved sailing through the peaceful and ecologically unique mangroves, and exfoliating in the oatmeal-like sand of the natural swimming area. And the beach at La Isla Cabra is beautiful, with calm waters and no vendors of any kind. If you take the time to make the trip out to Monte Cristi, definitely take the time to tour with Soraya and Santos! See more..

   This is totally off the beaten path. You will need to take a boat from playa Enseñada, which should run you 4000 pesos (80usd) unless you go with other groups. The amount of sand changes. Sometimes there's a whole beach and sometimes you have to put things higher up so they don't get wet. See more..

   El Morro is a natural sightseeing beach by the mountains. Definitely for the more adventurous, as this is borderline wilderness. There's a street that will take a vehicle up to the parking lot, after that it's all walk/hike. The view is amazing and if amazing natural landscapes are your thing, you'll definitely enjoy it. You can hike both mountains if you choose to do so, there's a smaller one (el morrito) and the big one (el morro). Views from the top are great. You can also just choose to walk along the beach, there are pebbles and rocks along the beach, and it's not always recommended to swim in it (waves can get a bit violent at times, depending on the weather). This is not recommended for children, and if you do bring children, keep an eye on them and be alert, as the hikes can be difficult and there are cliffs.
