Born of a fairy tale by Danish author Hans Christian Andersen, the statue incarnation of the Little Mermaid has watched over Copenhagen's harbor since 1913. In 2010, Den Lille Havfrue, as she is known in Danish, left her post to represent Denmark at the World's Fair in Shanghai. See more..

    Christiania image
This hippy enclave and alternative community in the heart of Copenhagen is home to many artists and artisans. Here, you can wonder at colorful street art all around, and stop by cozy cafes for some top-notch craft beers. Enjoy the area’s bohemian vibes as you hunt for offbeat handicrafts, and go for a walk around the lake or stroll down the infamous Pusher Street—where you’ll be required to put your camera away. During warmer months, this neighborhood is a great spot for some outdoor, waterside fun. Christiania is more welcoming to travelers during the day. – Tripadvisor See more..

These vases are close to the train station and they are about 5 metres tall. They were a gift from a food company to the city on the occasion of Roskilde's 1000 anniversary in 1998. Inside the vases are names of all the company employees plus people who made the vases. They stand in water and are illuminated at night. See more..

We had booked two nights at Lalandia as a stop on our way down to the continent. The house we rented exactly matched the description. We also had the vertical ladder some other mentioned. But we had no problems with it and our bigger kids (aged 7 and 10) slept on the loft. But yes, they could not stand there so the loft was only used for sleeping. Not that we spend much time in the house anyway. The holiday village at Lalandia is fairly large and our house was located approximately 800 meters from the center which was a bit too far for my liking. We were also decidedly unimpressed by the baths. Maybe we are spoiled and had too high expectations, but we were a bit disappointed. The things they have are ok but it is not that much. They do seem to use a lot of chlorine to clean their water since we could feel the smell of it. Towards the afternoon we could also feel it in our eyes. There are a lot of things to do at the center, but almost all of them cost extra. The food in the restaurants was so-so. See more..
