3 huge vases

These vases are close to the train station and they are about 5 metres tall. They were a gift from a food company to the city on the occasion of Roskilde's 1000 anniversary in 1998. Inside the vases are names of all the company employees plus people who made the vases. They stand in water and are illuminated at night.

    Roskilde Jars
I wouldn't recommend visiting Roskilde just to see these, but you'll see them if you take the train from Copenhagen anyway! Leave the train station, head toward the main part of town, and there they are. I did not learn abotu the history of these until I set out to do this review. They are actually called the "Roskilde Jars" and apparently weigh about 8 tons each! That must have been quite a difficult installation. Anyway, do stop and look at these if you are in the vicinity. No charge, they're outside.

    Thats it!
It is an impressiv view the three giant jars with a height of approx. 5 meters and a total weight of 24 tons. I have been told that The three jars should be the world's largest, which is burned in the traditional manner. The Roskilde Jars by Peter Brandes are symbol of life and death, in the old days jars were used to store food and as urns. They is a gift to the citizens at Roskilde 1000 year anniversary in 1998.
