    Icon of Copenhagen
This small statue on a rock just off shore attracts hundreds of tourists each day. It is well known and there is too much hype, but it is an icon of Copenhagen. It is a bit of a walk from the center of the city, but we enjoyed walking the paths along the water and harbor. After taking a photo, we walked over to the Kastlette nearby to enjoy touring the fort and grounds.

    Lovely statue, little underwhelming
When we told people we were going to Denmark (Copenhagen to be precise) every single person said "you have to go see the little mermaid"... so we knew we couldn't have a weekend in Copenhagen without making sure we did just that. We got the metro to a nearby station and walked to the statue, which was a lovely brisk walk! The area is a lovely placed filled with statues and old warehouses that have been converted into apartments and offices and is a lovely walk back up to Nyhavn. The statue itself... was a little underwhelming. I'm not sure if it's because of how many people said we needed to go and in some sense "bigged"it up to us but a lot of other statues and memorials we saw en-route to this were much more interesting and grand. It was definitely something to see when there and the walk made the whole experience. The actual "seeing" of the statue will take you about 30 seconds.
