This year i got a chance to attend volunteer programme at Finca Tungasuk. This was an exceptional experience. The owner Annabelle and Alfredo are super nice people. Very friendly and speaks really good english so communication was very easy. They also have pickup and drop off service from havana to the farm and back for a very fair price of 30 CUC. You get a nice fresh brekafast in the morning followed by the work you were supposed to do and then the best lunch ever cooked by Annabelle using fresh farm produce. I never had this good lunch before. the cost is around 20 CUC If you don't want to work there you also have option of only having lunch there. Annabelle replies to all email very quickly. So you can also send your requests to her by email. The farm itself is very beautiful and big . All farming is done organically. I had the best day there. See more..

  7. 4.5 Ruinas del Antiguo Cafetal Angerona (3 reviews)
    - A step back into another era
Thursday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Historic Sites • Ancient Ruins • Points of Interest & Landmarks
Ruinas del Antiguo Cafetal Angerona image
I have visited Angerona three times now and am entranced by the ruins as well as the story about them about the owner Cornelia and the beautiful Haitian Ursula. Raymond Barbon, the docent of the ruins, gives a very informative account of the ruins. He also wrote a novel, La Virtud de Silencio about what he sees as the truth behind the ruins. It's a compelling romance between a white cafetal owner and an intelligent black Haitian woman who manages the plantation. After you visit the ruins, you must read the book. At this point it is in Spanish. Hopefully, there will, before long, be a translation into English. See more..

    Salto de Sorao image
So I notice that a majority of people go to the waterfall but just across the bridge where the concession stand is located is a few local Cuban men and horses, this is the best part, its only $5cuc to the top of the mountain with the most amazing views much better than the waterfall tour. A must do. See more..
  13. 4.0 Banos del San Juan (139 reviews)
    - Awesome place
Spent More than 3 hours Bodies of Water
    Banos del San Juan image
It was not busy at all, so we enjoyed the little hike, 5 min from parking area down to the small waterfall and natural pool. Despite the water was cold we dipped and it was so much fun. You could sit around or sunbath if you wish. There are small huts facing 2 hills just across to stay overnight if you wish. Restaurant is fine, not special but cheap. Quite untouched place yet, must visit, highly recommended ! See more..

Spent More than 3 hours Castles
    Castillo en Las Nubes image
This hotel is beautifully located with nice views. At the moment we stayed there, there was a water and electricity failure in the whole area. Despite this, the staff managed to cook a delicious meal for the 4 couples who stayed there, the dining room was decorated with candles, so they managed to give us a fantastic evening, even though they barely had anything to work with. Fantastic staff, highly recommended! See more..
