  1. 5.0 Birdwatching with Paulino Lopez Delgado (114 reviews)
    - For the Birds... and so much more!
Spent More than 3 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas
Birdwatching with Paulino Lopez Delgado image
Paulino picked us up in his classic Bel Air at 7 a.m sharp. His tour began not far from our resort, Melia Cayo Coco, and he often would pull over and have us get out to see a bird off to the side of the road. His knowledge of the birds, the environment, how climate has affected the area and its creatures and his patience with never ending questions is truly inspiring for someone who would have not considered birding before. I will definitely book a tour next year but this time, it will be a full day. I had booked this year's excursion for my mother and I and she was unable to come so I thought "Why not?" I am so glad I did. Paulino is a treasure trove of information who added so much depth to my experience of the area. See more..
  2. 5.0 Rocarena Climbing Center (94 reviews)
    - F.U.N.
Spent 1-2 hours Game & Entertainment Centers
    Rocarena Climbing Center image
My 11 year old daughter loves climbing activities. So we HAD to go there. I usually am not scared of anything but this was something. All paths are different and the level of difficulties varies from one path to another. It was really fun and felt extremely safe. However I had my knees shaking after some challenging paths... I recommend this for everyone! The structure is also a piece of art if you are not an adept of climbing ! It is worth taking the time to see the imagination that went into building it. See more..
  3. 5.0 Pepe's Classic Cuban Taxi (42 reviews)
    - Great Memories with Pepe
Spent More than 3 hours Taxis & Shuttles
    Pepe's Classic Cuban Taxi image
We actually visited Cuba one year ago, but have always meant to give a great word for Pepe. My husband and I appreciate the one of a kind experience that we had exploring with Pepe. This excursion is what made our trip memorable. We enjoyed the non stop dancing, tunes, information, jokes and smiles during the whole excursion. We stopped at a great local food spot, saw and held some crocodiles, had a great boat ride, spent some time shopping in Moron and had a wonderful time sight seeing. We felt safe the whole time and we appreciate the wealth of knowledge Pepe was able to share about the history of Cuba and the Cuban lifestyle. We were free to take our time and enjoy our day. Pepe is well known within the community as he seemed to have friends everywhere! So we were able to talk to some locals as well. We are forever great-full to Pepe and we truly wish him all the best in everything he does. He is a very hardworking, generous person. Great times had! #marcanthonyforever See more..

    - Kite in cayo coco

    Cuba-Kite image
Cuba Kite is the best place to learn this sport. Just after the palapas at Tryp hotel there'ses the post big wood white and blue house. They have 3 or 4 kite instructor...I was lucky to have Anna (btw she is good as she is sexy) she will guide you in all you need to know about kite. When she's in the water she zig zags between people in the ocean and high five them as she jump or fly above them...wich is pretty cool. I highly recommend that school either tour a beginner or expert. They speak english...russian and spanish See more..
  5. 5.0 Marinas Gaviota (14 reviews)
    - Great Snorkeling
Scuba & Snorkelling • Swim with Dolphins • Boat Tours • Fishing Charters & Tours • Boat Rentals
    Marinas Gaviota image
We took the snorkeling tour. It's a very short ride from the Melia Cayo Coco or Pullman hotels. We had a slow ride out to the reef and made only 1 stop for about an hour. The sea was very rough and not great for new snorkelers or non-swimmers. My wife and I had a blast as very few people stayed in the water. The Crew (Captain Felix and First Mate Luis) were excellent - lots of fun and jokes. Drinks and snacks were provided. Lots of people who didn't snorkel got a little sea sick. On the way back we stopped at a sandbar. This was a lot of fun. We even found a sea star! Lunch buffet was pretty awful. The Lobster / Shrimp were well over cooked and dry. Standard buffet otherwise. No dessert. See more..

  13. 4.5 Playa Pilar (3.545 reviews)
    - Beautiful beach
    Beaches
    Playa Pilar image
Very nice beach. Beautiful water. I think a little wind is quite normal for this area. Out of 2 weeks we we had 2 or 3 days when the wind was calmer. Usually some waves but not overwhelming. Makes it a little tiring for snorkeling. If your not comfortable in the water you will probably want floatation. Shallow water quite a way out. There are small catamarans that will take you out to an island about 1 Km off shore. There are reefs and a ship wreck out there. Lots of the day party boat trips stop in this area. See more..
  14. 4.5 Cayo Guillermo (1.246 reviews)
    - wow
    Beaches
    Cayo Guillermo image
We have been visiting this area every year for the past 12 years. Starfish Cayo Guillermo has always been home to us. We consider the staff all to be family. Brand new buffet area and the food was amazing. A new beach bar at the far end of the beach. Eric, is the most accommodating bartender. He is being very patient as many people on the resort do not realize it is open. Important for people to remember to bring your bubba. They are having trouble getting plastic glasses and we should be getting away from single use plastic anyway. Bug spray for those calm early mornings is a must. At the end of the beach going towards the marina is another bar that is open to the public. Very friendly bartenders there. Love this spot. See more..
  15. 4.5 Delfinario De Cayo Guillermo (501 reviews)
    - “This is the best day of my life mom”
Spent 1-2 hours Swim with Dolphins
    Delfinario De Cayo Guillermo image
The Delfinario was truly an wonderful experience for my son, (I opted just to enjoy watching him). He keeps telling everyone he meets that it was the best day of his life. The dolphins are happy, playful and very gentle, the staff are incredibly friendly and the facilities are clean and well accommodated. I love that it’s on the river where you can also see all the other natural wildlife around. We spent just as much time watching the pelicans and looking for jellyfish from the boardwalk. The photos and videos they took were worth every peso to purchase, much better quality than what my camera is capable of and I am grateful for the preserved memories of the time there. We will definitely return on our next trip to Cayo Guillermo and I will likely even participate myself. See more..

Excellent Diving, Customer Service #1 Sharks, eel, turtles, rays, and plenty of gorgeous fish We stayed at the Grand Muthu and walked the 20 mins down the beach everyday to the Coco Diving Center. Sorry I threw up so much but enjoyed myself all the same. This was our third time and won’t be the last. Btw They love candy, nutella and maple syrup if you are going to be visiting. I had an introductory dive lesson in the pool and went out to the coral reef. Absolutely amazing experience. Very skilled instructions in the pool with Paulo. Then Alberto was my dive partner and he showed me the most wonderful underwater sites. It was like swimming in an aquarium. The colours and variety of the fishes were so amazing. 20. 4.5 La Cueva Del Jabali (112 reviews)
    - A must do on a Tuesday night when in Cayo Coco
    Dance Clubs & Discos
    La Cueva Del Jabali image
Was a bit unsure of this jaunt while we were in Cayo Coco....All I can day is GO! Such a cool place to see even if you don’t get on the dance floor. I danced nonstop and had so much fun, before I knew it, it was 2am and my bus back to the resort was leaving. Music is super loud and my ears actually hurt by the time I left-my partner wore ear plugs and several people offered to buy them from him ! Really enjoyed the fire dancers. I loved being in the cave and dancing and looking up at the stars, the smell of the cave, and even the smell of the karosene after the fire dancers-so much for the senses! The place was packed with people of all ages, sizes, and colour! I am in my 50s and did not feel out of place. If you don’t think you can last til 2am, a can can be arranged to take you back. The disco is only offered Tuesday nights! See more..

  22. 4.5 Galeria Pauyet (44 reviews)
    - Highlight of our visit to Ciego de Ávila
Spent 1-2 hours Speciality & Gift Shops • Art Galleries
    Galeria Pauyet image
Had the pleasure to visit the gallery and their workshop and talk with Paudel Ruiz Vázquez, one of the principal artists at the cooperative, who gave us a tour of their humble but industrious facility in the back. It is amazing to see how the many old spoons, forks and knives they have collected are creatively transformed into small and large objet d'art. Loved the representation of a "Coco", native long billed bird that is native to the area, which now adorns a special place in our house. ¡Gracias Paudel! See more..

    Crocodile Farm image
Visit to this Crocodil farm in the Ciego di Avila region was a part of the organized bus-tour from our hotel at Cayo Coco. Farm is built in area with a number of small natural lakes, where a few reservoirs were built in order to separate crocodile-population of different ages and sizes. Good stable wooden paths are built around the area, and it is possible to safely walk around. We could see cuban crocodiles i sizes from some 30 cm to the biggest ones, resting and sunning by the water. It is also possible to feed crocodiles with fish with help of the personal if you dare.
