  1. 5.0 Armenian Genocide Museum (1.522 reviews)
    - Gut-wrenching but a full knowledge museum
    Saturday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Speciality Museums
    Armenian Genocide Museum image
A little trip to outside the main attractions this iconic museum is one of the must see during your trip in Yerevan. Trigger warning. Photos of corpse, hanging, and other forms of death are featured within the first part of the museum so better just pass along if you don’t have the faint of heart. My favorite part of the museum is the last stories where it was located on the ground floor (they are still renovating as of this writing). How Armenians build themselves from the ground up, being a refugee, telling their stories to the world and much more. I even bought a book written by a first-hand experience for me to understand on what really happened. See more..

    - Visiting Armenia's most important civic space!
Saturday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Republic Square image
"Republic Square" was designed, in 1924, by iconic Russian-born Armenian architect Alexander Tamanyan in his plans for renovating Yerevan. It consists of a roundabout and a pool. At the roundabout, five major neoclassical buildings - the "Government House", the "History Museum and National Gallery", the "Armenia Marriott Hotel", and the former headquarters of the "Ministry of Foreign Affairs" and of the "Ministry of Transport and Communications". At the pool, the gracious and popular "Dancing Fountains". You will certainly pass through "Republic Square" many times during your visit to Yerevan, as it is the usual way to some of the city's most important attractions. The square is generally busy and crowded, principally in the evenings when the "Dancing Fountains" are on! Unmissable! Enjoy! See more..

    Saturday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent < 1 hour Fountains
    Dancing Fountains image
I have been to Armenia twice and this place at night is my absolute favorite place of all places in Yerevan. It is one of the best water fountain shows I have seen. The music, the lights, and the dancing fountains are mesmerizing. The music keeps changing and the lights and the movements of the fountain change with it. The fountains dance beautifully to the music and make you in awe. This is a must-see if you come to Yerevan. See more..

    - The GENOCIDE Museum - be prepared to be horrified!!!
Saturday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent More than 3 hours Monuments & Statues
    Tsitsernakaberd image
I am an Englishman who has been to Auschwitz but what the Nazis did to the Jews in World War 2, is NOTHING compared to what the TURKS did to the Armenian men, WOMEN and CHILDREN!!!! ALL TURKS should visit this monument to appreciate what a disgraceful and barbaric ancestry they have descended from and be ASHAMED!! The Nazis and ESPECIALLY the Turks make me ashamed to be a member of the human race. If you want to cry for several hours, as I did, visit this monument to the suffering of a peaceful friendly nation. See more..

    - Bronze Age exhibition is fantastic
Saturday: 11:00 AM - 6:00 PM Speciality Museums
    History Museum of Armenia image
Great museum, especially the section dedicated to the Bronze Age. So comprehensive! There were a few times that I was confused with the order of the exhibitions -this may have just been me walking the wrong way through the exhibits... The only let down was the section on the Soviet Occupation-there was no English language information in that one section. Otherwise-this museum is really interesting. See more..

I ad heard of Parajanov the film maker, but I did not know that of his extensive and VERY original art work. I visited this museum with my teen son. Smoking Woman image
Fernando Botero is one of the most acclaimed living sculptors in the whole world! Finding one single work by this Medellín born Colombian artist is already fantastic, but at Yerevan's "Cafesjian Sculpture Garden", in the "Cascade Complex", you will simply find "three" of his masterpiece works. "Mujer que Fuma" (Smoking Woman), a bronze dark brown patina sculpture, sided the "Gatto" (The Cat) and the "Guerrero Romano" (Roman Warrior), dates from 1987 and is one of the must-see statues at this breathtaking garden. Enjoy! See more..
  21. 4.5 The Armenian National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet named after Alexander Spendiaryan (381 reviews)
    - Simply, the Opera!
    Saturday: 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM, 3:00 PM - 8:00 PM Theaters
The Armenian National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet named after Alexander Spendiaryan image
Its official name is "Alexander Spendiaryan Opera and Ballet Academic Theater", or simply, "The Opera"! The magnificent building was designed by iconic Russian-born Armenian architect Alexander Tamanyan and was inaugurated in 1933. Nevertheless, its construction continued until 1953, when it finally ended. Under its very same roof, "The Opera" houses two halls, both shaped as amphitheaters and with perfect accoustics, offering busy and consistent programmes. Ballets, concerts and operas, of course, are scheduled all year round, with special attention to an Armenian traditional repertoire. While visiting Yerevan, check their programmes and maybe you have a chance to attend a superb presentation at the "Aram Khachaturyan Concert Hall" (1400 seats) or at the "Alexander Spendiaryan Opera and Ballet National Theater" (1200 seats). Just unmissable! Enjoy! See more..
  22. 4.5 Lovers' Park (275 reviews)
    - Loved it
    Saturday: 7:00 AM - 2:00 AM Parks
    Lovers' Park image
Lovers' Park Landscaping and Design Project started in 2006. The design for the reconstruction of the new Lovers' Park was conceived by Pierre Rambach, a well-known landscape architect from Switzerland, author of many books and articles on Japanese and Oriental gardens. After a year's research the renowned architect created the sketch plan which was approved by the Municipality of Yerevan. The plan reflects the basic principles of traditional oriental gardens. This is a haven of nature in a highly urbanized city with a peculiar inhabitable environment conceived by Mr. Rambach. Lovers' Park covers an area of 1.6 hectares (16'419 square meter/176'732 square feet). An artificial lake with two islands is located in the eastern side of the park. One of the islands serves as a stage for the 200-seat amphitheater opposite the lake. There are two waterfalls in the park, cascading into rivulets and flowing into the large lake. The park's Achajour café is one of favorite pastime places for Yerevan residents. The park is designed with the needs of physically challenged people in mind. The park has a public toilet, which includes a special cubicle for wheelchairs. There are no steps in the park, which enables easy access of wheelchairs to all parts. See more..

  24. 4.5 National Gallery of Armenia (225 reviews)
    - Nice museum
Saturday: 11:00 AM - 5:30 PM Spent 2-3 hours Art Museums • History Museums
    National Gallery of Armenia image
This modest museum contains 7 floors of Armenian art. It's located in the same building as the National History Museum. Unlike the National History Museum, it does have an elevator, but I do not think it's handicap accessible because the entrance to the museum requires a large flight of stairs (if I am wrong, please correct me) The admission is very inexpensive. I paid for all three special exhibits, and the total cost came to only $5. Just like the National History Museum, the only toilets are located on the ground floor. There are no water fountains in the museum, but you are permitted to bring bottled water. Don't go there expecting the Louvre. But it will give you a very nice insight into different Armenian artists that span many different centuries. It is not crowded. You can take your time quietly browsing all the exhibits. See more..

  26. 4.5 Erebuni Town-Fortress (207 reviews)
    - Fascinating fortress
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Erebuni Town-Fortress image
This is the oldest site in Yerevan from which the city took it's name. Though a little sadly neglected on site, due to their lack of funds, there is an excellent museum which is very up to date and contains treasures from the early history of the Armenians. We were fascinated by this history - going back to very early times, and it's treasures. Armenia is a most evocative and beautiful country, only just recovering from Communist neglect and rediscovering hope for their national future. This site puts everything into it's long and distinguished historical context See more..

A hidden jem indeed. I chanced upon this in google map while searching for the address of a tour service, and since I was really looking for interesting places in the Yerevan that are not so frequented by tourists, I'd say this was a blessing... A beautiful small church, with very solemn atmosphere, very good for prayer and meditation... See more..
