- 5.0 Armaghan Mountain (9 reviews)
-Mountain Armaghan is situated in the mountain chain of Geghama and it is 2829m above sea level.
Mountains • Geologic Formations
On the top, it has a volcanic crater with diameter of 150m which is filled with water. The beautiful surroundings around this lake of volcanic origin make it one of the best places of interest in Armenia. From time to time, the top of the mountain is covered by fog. The legend says that when the fairies come to drink water: the fog appears and doesn’t allow people to see them. It is said that only lucky people have the opportunity to see this. See more..

- 4.5 Monastery Sevanavank (468 reviews)
-A 9th century Monastery over the blue waters of Lake Sevan ...
Points of Interest & Landmarks
On the Northwestern shores of "Lake Sevan", the "Blue Eye of Armenia", you will find the 9th century "Monastery of Sevanavank". It was built around 874 AD, folowing a special request by Princess Mariam, daughter of King Ashot I, to "Catholicos Mashtots". The "Monastery of Sevanavank"comprises two churches, very similar to each other, the "Surp Arakelots" (the "Church of the Holy Apostles") and the "Surp Astvatsatsin" (the "Church of Holy Mother of God"). Visit both churches and enjoy awesome views of beautiful "Lake Sevan". If you are lucky enough, a group of local school girls will be performing Armenian folk dances in its premises. Enjoy! See more..
- 4.5 Noratus Cemetery (119 reviews)
-Very unusual site worth a detour
Cemeteries
This cemetery near the western shore of Lake Sevan is full of 12th Century katchkar tombstones many of which depict scenes from the life of the deceased. At the main entrance an ancient woman will, for a modest tip, escort you to the most interesting ones and explain in broken English, the significance of them. Rest rooms are at the shop across the street. See more..
- 4.5 Hayravank Monastery (88 reviews)
-A church more than a thousand years old, overlooking Lake Sevan
Beaches • Beach & Pool Clubs
As the suffix "vank" shows, this was a monastery. But today just survive the church (which dates back to the ninth century) and the "gavit", ie the atrium, which in Armenia is very often larger and more imposing than the church itself. Around there are some khatchkars (carved crosses), made more impressive by the fact that lichens have completely covered some, giving them a nice bright yellow colour. Finally (and this is the prerogative of many Armenian churches) it has an enviable position in the domain of a promontory overlooking the lake; position that we appreciate today is for the view that it allows, but that by the people and by the architects of the ancient times was probably motivated by the fact that a prominent position increased the symbolic value of the building. - 4.5 Lake Sevan (27 reviews)
-Visiting the Blue Eye of Armenia!
Bodies of Water
"Lake Sevan" is the largest one in Armenia, covering nearly 1/6 of its territory. On its shores, public and private beaches, which are pretty busy on Armenia's warm Summers. On its Northwestern shore, the awesome 9th century "Manastery of Sevanavank", with its two impressive churches: "Surp Arakelots" (Church of the Holy Apostles) and "Surp Astvatsatsin" (Church of the Holy Mother of God). It is a beautiful lake, being locally known as the "Blue Eye of Armenia". Great pictures to take home! Enjoy! See more..
- 4.5 Vardenyats Pass (Selim Pass) (22 reviews)
-Unforgettable Memories & Views.
Spent 1-2 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas
One of the most beautiful ways in Armenia. Amazing landscapes and beautiful views. Heavy clouds, cold weather, and the snow covering the top of the mountains. Unforgettable memories. People who are coming from the Southern high way (Goris, Jermuk, Yeghegnadzor) and planning to visit Sevan and Dalijan take the chance and go via Selim pass. Just make sure you have full fuel. Highly Recommended. See more..

This church and monastery situated in the lower part of the very scenic and features a plenty Sevan peninsula, is not as spectacular as its neighbour in to top of the hill Sevansvank monastery, but it still has its charms. very quiet and by the shore of the lake, you can reach it through a tree lined park. You can see some of the monks at work. nice visit if you are in the peninsula See more..

See more..
- 4.5 Amaras Monastery (4 reviews)
-Peaceful & Beautiful
Spent 1-2 hours Historic Sites • Historic Walking Areas • Religious Sites • Churches & Cathedrals
Amaras is idyllic and located not far from the border between Artsakh and Azerbaijan proper. The landscape here is different from that in other parts of Artsakh - low-lying hills with more golden brown colors than deep green (at least in summer) - much like Southern California. The monastery itself is enclosed by a wall and has an underground mausoleum that you can enter from inside the church sanctuary. From the underground chamber, you can follow another tunnel out an into an area that is currently under excavation/restoration and is covered by a plastic roof. A walk around the perimeter of the monastery along the top of the wall was the highlight for me - great views and photo ops! Just watch out for the holes in the wall! See more..

Ancient Ruins • Churches & Cathedrals
- 4.0 Ddmashen Church (1 review)
Churches & Cathedrals
Odzaberd Fortress is an ancient Urartian fortress translated as the ``Serpent`s Fortress`` near Tsovinar and overlooking Lake Sevan. We trekked up to see it about recently during our time in the region as part of our drive around the Caucuses and it was quite rewarding. There are still parts of the city wall, gates and foundations to explore, the inscription by Rusa I is fantastic to see after all these hundreds of years and the setting is impressive. It is worth making the trek here and we would come back again. See more..
